Liam's eyes narrowed as he approached the dimly lit hallway. Avery and Sebastian's whispers reached him, followed by the unmistakable sound of a kiss.

Liam's heart sank. He had suspected Sebastian's intentions, but witnessing Avery's willingness hurt.

He retreated, unseen, his mind reeling. How could Avery trust Sebastian so easily?

The drive home was a blur. Liam's thoughts consumed him: Avery's laughter, Sebastian's charm, their kiss.

At home, Liam poured himself a drink, his reflection staring back. When had his feelings for Avery shifted?

He recalled moments: Avery's smile, her trust, her gentle touch. Liam's heart ached.

The doorbell broke the silence. Avery.

"Liam, I need to talk to you," Avery said, her voice hesitant.

Liam's mask slipped for a moment, revealing his pain. "What is it, Avery?"

Avery's eyes searched his. "About Sebastian... I know you don't trust him."

Liam's laugh was bitter. "You're right. I don't."

Avery's hand touched his arm, sending shivers. "Liam, I value our friendship. But I need to explore this with Sebastian."

Liam's gaze locked onto hers. "You're already exploring more than friendship, Avery."

Avery's cheeks flushed. "How did you...?"

"I saw you," Liam said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Kissing Sebastian."

Avery's eyes widened. "Liam, I—"

"Stop, Avery." Liam's pain boiled over. "Just stop."

The air was heavy with unspoken words.
