Avery couldn't shake off the unease as she left the conference room. Sebastian's triumphant smile lingered in her mind.

"Are you sure about this?" Emily asked, her brow furrowed.

Avery hesitated. "The donation is too good to pass up."

Emily's expression turned serious. "But at what cost?"

Avery's thoughts drifted back to her tumultuous relationship with Sebastian. The memories still stung.

As they walked to their cars, Avery's phone buzzed.

Sebastian's text made her heart skip a beat:

"Welcome back, Avery. I've missed you."

Avery's instincts screamed warning. She shouldn't engage.

But her fingers seemed to move of their own accord:

"What game are you playing, Sebastian?"

The response came instantly:

"No games, Avery. Just the truth."

Avery's skin crawled. What truth?

Suddenly, the past came flooding back.

The whirlwind romance. The possessiveness. The heartbreak.

Avery realized she'd made a grave mistake.

She was trapped in Sebastian's web once more.
