Avery's eyes never left Sebastian's as he took a seat across from her. His confident smile made her skin prickle.
"I've been following your work, Avery," Sebastian began. "Flynn Events is impressive. You're impressive."
"Thank you," Avery replied, her tone neutral. "What's the proposal?"
Sebastian leaned forward, his eyes glinting. "I want Flynn Events to plan a charity gala for my family's foundation. It's a high-profile event, and I need the best."
Avery raised an eyebrow. "And what makes you think we're interested?"
Sebastian's smile grew. "I'm willing to make it worth your while. A million-dollar donation to the charity of your choice, plus a substantial fee for Flynn Events."
Emily, seated beside Avery, whispered, "That's a game-changer."
Avery's mind raced. The donation could fund her favorite charity, and the fee would secure Flynn Events' future.
But at what cost?
"What's the catch?" Avery asked, her voice measured.
Sebastian's eyes locked onto hers. "You'll work closely with me. We'll need to spend time together to ensure the event's success."
Avery's gut twisted. She hadn't anticipated this.
"Is that necessary?" she asked, stalling.
Sebastian's smile turned persuasive. "I assure you, Avery, it's essential. We'll make a great team."
Avery's instincts screamed warning, but Emily's encouraging nod and the promise of that donation swayed her decision.
"Alright," Avery said, extending her hand. "We're in."
Sebastian's handshake was firm, his eyes gleaming with triumph.
As the meeting concluded, Avery felt a shiver run down her spine.
