Axel and I were firsthand witnesses to the horror and bloodshed on the boat. The alarm wailed on for what felt like hours as everyone was convinced they were going to die. I get a vague glimpse of a figure slicing through people with a scythe and cackling about it. Axel took my hand in his talon and we ran back to our rooms, only to find Leo and Jackie already there; while the voice of Carmen over the intercom says "Don't worry guys, it's not the end yet." A scream is heard afterwards, followed by a "Please enter your rooms for your safety and don't let anyone in from the outside," and we slam the door shut.
Leo explain that he had picked up the key from when Axel had dropped in the comedy club. Axel recollects the key and mutters "This is embarrassing but thanks dad."
I turn to Jackie who is scrunching up her hair in her fist and shaking.
I ask "Where is your husband?"
"I don't know okay?" she cries. "Sometimes he just runs off taking care of Jaina and Adam".
"Well those are his kids so..."
"Hey, do you think we could get out of this room?" asks Axel. "I don't hear the noises from outside."
Leo jiggles the door and confirms it to be locked. That is when the light goes out, causing it to be pitch-black. Luckily, Leo came prepared with a flashlight for this situation.
"It is a mess in here," says Jackie to Leo, "Who's room did you say this was?"
We take in the Spider-Man poster of Tom Holland and the pair of spider-themed boxers on the lamp.
"What?" says Axel accursedly. "I feel like we have a lot in common."
There's also a smaller room connected to the main room and a window. Leo tries to push out the window, feeling around the wall in the darkness.
"Let me get to the other room," says Leo. "See if I can find something to pry the door open."
"I'll help," says Jackie, following behind him.
As soon as they go in, the door closes locking them in the spare room together.
"Noo, noooo!!!! I cant be stuck with him again! He's Naomi's boyfriend! She'll kill me!" exclaims Jackie, making a pained noise with her mouth.
"Calm down," says Leo.
"My stomach hurts" exclaims Jackie.
"Is that a foot in your stomach?" cries Leo, "Ow! I think it kicked me! There's a baby in there!"
"What!? What? I can't be pregnant!" exclaims Jackie.
There's a gasping, squelching sound from the hallways, and a bang as a door slams open.
"No, please don't! No! Nooo!!!" exclaims a passenger. I then hear the slick, slobbering, squelching noise of the monster as it devours them whole.
I feel around Axel's drawer for anything we can fight off the monster with, but find myself befuddled by the giant sock drawer without any matching pairs. Picking one up, I see that it is covered in holes, and roll my eyes. Then I jump as I hear Axel call out, "Jasper! You're being a little extra!"
I hit him hard in the shoulder. What if the monster hears?
Then he leans into me, giving me that look, and I find my hear beating faster than I am able to account for. Damn that bird-man and his chocolate brown eyes. I can taste the woodsy-scent coming off his breath and am blushing hard, hoping he would not notice how breathless I'm feeling right now.
"What are you doing?"
"We might be dying," says Axel. "Might as well enjoy what moments we have left while we can."
