Chapter 11 - Jasper

One thing in my mind since the body swap was thinking over why the Space Queen wanted to do the body swap. It's getting difficult to see my bar fall apart for no reason at all. I still tried to do my job but the monsters could not take Axel seriously.

Carmen was not helping me focus on any of this either. She gave me a weirdly intimate hug thanks for agreeing to see Adam locked up in a cell at Bar Midnight. Carmen has been trying to let him walk around but still is keeping on a kind of parole with an ankle monitor.

"He won't talk to me and I figured he might open up to another teenager," she says, explaining to me her situation.

As for me? I had to fight off the feeling of wanting to make love to her but all the while hating her for wanting this 20 year old's body.

"It's you," said Adam. "I don't care what you're upset about. You will never know the secrets that the Space Queen holds."

"The woman who is also your sister from another timeline, whom you abandoned to go about and be the Vampire King over."

"I hold no obligation to my family," he says, spitting onto the ground.

"Hey, mind your manners kid," I say, which causes him to scoff.

"Who are you to talk down to me like you're my father or something?" asks Adam. "Mom might be weirdly attracted to you but that will change. I promise."

Also, I'm in charge here right now.  I'm letting him out of his containment. He should be thanking me. I could have let his mom let him out.

"Besides, why should I be grateful to the same asshole who arrested me?" asks Adam, giving me the middle finger, which causes me to be all different kinds of riled up at him.

"Now wait a minute," I say, "Axel, I mean, I, we probably have our reasons."

Adam stared at me for a moment and I felt as if I was going to be found out, but instead he shrugs and walks out.

Only to see Carmen staring back at us, hands on her hips, jabbing a finger into Adam's belly.

"YOU are the one who ran away from home," says Carmen, "So help me Goddes if you forget it. Never forget you came out of my womb and that bird-kid had no obligation to rescue. Have you forgotten that your own sister had made a time-agency to protect you from yourself. You should be grateful that we love you and even give you the time of day."

He seems barely able to digest these words and nods his head silently. Adam looked ready to kill me when I grabbed onto him. He hissed at me, attempting to scratch my arm. I blocked him with my ring and caught him into a near chokehold. 

"Look dark king or whatever you go by clearly you despise me I don't care. If you fight with me, you will prove to Carmen you're the big baby she thinks you are. You are in such a hurry to grow up that you can't see the forest for the trees and appreciate where you are now," I say, throwing my bird feathers into the air. "To throw a tantrum, prove her right or grow a pair and deal with the situation."

He just nods his head.

We are on our way to the dolphin show to see Ozara perform. Looking at her, she looks so kind and considerate. That Axel is some kind of idiot to forget Ozara, and to even look in Carmen's direction. She's way too good for him. She needs someone who understand her darkness, someone to help her to become the woman that she is meant to be. A being to understand her and love her passionately.

Anyway, time to eat popcorn.

At this point I decide to do the most Axel thing I can think of since I was no closer to finding the time stone than before. I made my way to the Giggle Gull Comedy Club.Then I go up. I don't know why I did this but in all honesty, it's just worth a shot isn't it?
