The poor stay poor.
Iris starts shoving her clothes into her bag, she moves into the kids room and starts packing their things in bags, she lets out a sigh and sits on the bed, rubbing her hands over her face, wondering if this is the best decision.
She stands up and walks back to RJ, kneeling down in front of him again, "RJ, we have to do this" Iris says, she gently takes the comic from the boy, making him look at her, "it's for the best, you know that you and Judith are the most important thing to me and Daryl" Iris says, the boy nods his head, Iris stands again, kissing the boys head gently before walking out to the balcony.
She pulls out a cigarette, lighting it and inhaling the smoke, she looks down into the street and watches everyone having fun, music plays as the boxing match starts.
Iris puts out her cigarette before turning and opening the door again, "why don't you watch it all from here" she says to RJ, the boy walks over to her, looking down at the street, "stay here and i'll be back" Iris says before walking away.
She grabs her knife from the counter and slides it into the sheath on her belt before walking out of the apartment and down to the streets, "It is an honour and a privilege to be with you today to celebrate the, uh... to..." Iris walks around the crowd, looking up at Sebastian as he stands on the stage.
"I, um... I know that a lot of you don't think very well of me. I know that I probably deserve that. Now, it is gonna take a long, long road for me to earn your trust, and live up to my legacy. I don't have the words to describe what this place means to me." he explains, Iris makes her way to Daryl and Judith.
"But my grandfather did. So, humbly, if you would join me in listening to the wise words of President Milton, founder of the Commonwealth." Sebastian finishes and the crowd applaud him, Iris looks over to Daryl, both of them sharing the same fed up look.
"Please." Sebastian's voice plays through the speakers, "The Commonwealth is built on buying into bullshit. The desperate need to believe that the ol' American dream is still real. You know, 'Anything is possible!' 'We... We could rise above our station!' It's a friggin' joke." the crowd grows angry as they hear the words.
"The reality is that the poor stay poor so that the rich can do whatever the hell we want. The game is rigged. There are no bootstraps to pull up. Christ, my mom hand-picks the lottery winners. And none of it matters... and nothing will ever change."
Iris looks around as people starts to get annoyed, "You bitch!" Sebastian shouts, running off the stage, the people start to fight, Daryl grabs onto Iris's arm, she pulls her knife from her belt, holding it tightly by her side.
"Get Judith out" Iris says, pulling away from Daryl and running off, more people scream as walkers start filling the streets, Iris runs towards the dead, driving her blade into their heads, people push into Iris as she fights against them.
Gunshots fill the air and Iris continues to fight the walker, "help me!" she runs over to find a walker on top of Sebastin, "help me!" he cries, his eyes locked onto Iris as she stands there, a small smile grows on her face as she watches the fear in the man's eyes.
He screams as the walker bites into his neck, a gunshot goes off next to Iris, she looks over to Judith as she holds her gun aimed at the walker, Daryl looks down at Iris as she watches Sebastian choke on his own blood.
"Yeah, they're just too stupid to see it. The Commonwealth is built on buying into bullshit. The desperate need to believe the ol' American dream is still real. You know, 'Anything is possible!' 'We... We could rise above our station!' It's a friggin' joke. The reality is that the poor stay poor so that the rich can do whatever the hell we want."
