Solitary {2} : The Walking Dead

Chapter Twenty-eight.

Dummy.

Iris slows her bike as they pull into Hilltop, she kicks her stand out and steps away, "No sign of Negan?" Ezekiel asks, walking over to Iris, Daryl and Siddiq, "Searched all day and night, but no sign of him." Siddiq says, shaking Ezekiles hand.

"Keep thinkin' about what he took from us, what we didn't take from him." Ezekiel says, coughing, "Alexandria deserved better." he adds "Hey, you've had your trouble, too." Siddiq says "Actually, we could use a hand in the infirmary. Much of the Kingdom's still in recovery from the tree fall." the king says.

"We were plannin' on leavin' tomorrow, but, uh but yeah. Of course. Whatever you need." Siddiq says before walking away. "You gonna ask about Carol?" Daryl asks the man, Ezekiel slowly shakes his head, "Nah." he says, walking away.

Iris watches the hunters walking through the gate, she notices Connie worried, "She was tracking something, said she'd meet us back here. Should've been back by now." the man says, Iris looks back at Daryl.

Iris keeps her eyes on the ground as she walks through the woods with Connie and Daryl, "It's not your fault." Daryl says to Connie, "Hey. Did I ever tell you about my brother, Merle? Uh Merle." Daryl says, trying to distract the woman as they walk.

"Okay, this one time, he takes me fishing. Right? Fishing, right, on this big lake, right, which is, uh private property right? In this boat, which is, uh, stolen. Stolen boat, right? And he's drinking, right? So he's fishing, he's drinking." Daryl says, acting out the story.

"He falls in the lake. Like, ka-pssh! Right? I have to take him, uh, like this swim him all the way back. I save his life, right? You know what he says to me? "Dummy, go get the beer." Idiot, right?" Daryl explains

Iris laughs at the man, she looks up when Dog starts barking, they start to run towards the sound, "Good dog. Good dog." Daryl says when they find him, Iris looks around, she walks over and looks down at the dead animal.

She pulls out her axe when she hears something, turning she finds Magna, the woman shakes her head no, Iris lowers her axe and starts looking around again.

They follow Dog as he catches a scent, Iris watches Connie and Magna kneel down next to Kelly's unconscious body, she keeps lookout on the surroundings as Connie reasures Kelly.

"It's getting late, we should get back" Iris says, "I think we gotta find somewhere closer." Daryl says, Iris watches Kelly sign to Magna, "Tell them what?" Daryl asks.

"Did you know about this?" Daryl asks Connie, Iris looks at all the supplies they had stolen from Hilltop, "Hey. What's she saying?" Daryl asks "I said I don't trust you." Magna says.

"What's your problem? Huh?" Daryl questions "Hilltop takes you in. They got sick children and mouths to feed, and you steal from 'em?" Iris says, "All you're good for is talking shit." Daryl adds, Iris looks at Connie's note 'we'll tell them we found it', Iris glares at Magna before walking away.

Iris starts grabbing the supplies before walking back to Hilltop, she slows down and lets the others catch up, Daryl with more of the supplies, walks next to her.

"It was good to see you" Iris says to Alden, "yeah, you too" the man says, pulling her into a hug, "i'll see you soon" she says before walking away and climbing onto her bike. She starts the engine and drives the bike out of the gate, Daryl and Siddiq following behind her.
