Solitary {2} : The Walking Dead

Chapter Eighty-six.

Iris slowly opens her eyes, reaching up to her arm she feels blood cover her fingers, "shit" she whispers, looking down at the bullet hole in her arm, the sound of walkers registers in her mind, she lifts herself up "Daryl" she panics, looking at the man's body next to her, "judith" she cries, looking at the girl next to him.

Iris uses all her strength to crawl towards the girls body, "i got you kid" she mumbles, pressing her hands down on the girls bullet wound, blood rushes down Iris's arm, her head goes dizzy and her body grows week, her vision slowly goes black and she collapses on the floor next to Judith.

Iris opens her eyes again, she looks up at Carol as the woman tries to fix her arm, "judith" she whispers, pushing Carols hands off of her, she sits up, "Iris you need lay down" Carol says, gently grabbing Iris and trying to push her back down onto the bed, "i'm fine" Iris snaps, pushing Carol off of her again.

The redhead looks over as she listens to the cries, Kelly and Connie try to stop the bleeding from Lukes now amputated leg while Magna and Yumiko try to hold him down. Iris stands and walks over to Judith, sitting on the chair next to her bed, "i'm here Jude" she whispers, gently holding the girl's hand, tears fill her eyes, "i'm here" she repeats, kissing against Judith's hand.

"I'm fine." "Daryl, no, you're not." Carol says, Iris doesnt take her eyes off of Judith's face, "She's lost a lot of blood." Daryl says, looking down at Judith. "All the doctors are gone and the nurses and the medicine." Carol says, Iris looks up with teary eyes, she watches the others cry over Luke as he loses blood, "Where?" Daryl asks.

"We heard Pamela took everything and she's holed up in her gated community, and she left the rest of the Commonwealth to fend for itself." Carol explains, "Well, that's where we go." Daryl says, "There's too many troopers." Iris mumbles, Daryl looks at his wife, "Hoping to find somebody to get us in without a fight." Carol says, "What about Mercer? He knows people on the inside." Daryl says.

"Yeah, Max thinks so. There's a team after him. Some of the others are looking for the kids, and they're gonna meet us back here." Carol says, "So we just wait?" Daryl asks, "No, we're gonna take care of her and you two" Carol says, Iris lifts Judith hand to her mouth again, gently kissing it as she watches Luke as the life leaves his body.

Iris closes her eyes, tears slipping down her cheeks as she hears the sound of the knife going into his head. "I'm gonna give her blood. You know how to do this?" Daryl questions, grabbing supplies, "I do" Iris says, looking at the man, she lets go of Judith's hand and walks over to Daryl.

"But your types have to match." Carol says, "Mine goes with anybody. Merle used to make me sell it when I was a kid for money." Daryl explains, Iris pushes the needle into Judith's vein, she takes the tubing from Daryl and connects it to the cannula in Judith's arm, "ready?" Iris questions, holding onto the man's arm, "yeah" he mumbles, Iris pushes the needle into his vein, connecting the tube to his cannula.

She steps back and watches the blood move through the clear tube towards Judith's arm, everyone looks around when a loud crash comes from outside the room, "I'm gonna sweep the hospital, make sure the others are okay." Carol says, "We're coming, too." Yumiko says, "You good?" Carol questions, looking over to Iris and Daryl, "be safe" Iris says to the woman.

Iris watches the others leave the room, she moves back to Judith's side, reaching down and brushing her hair from her face, "you're gonna be okay kid" she whispers, leaning down and gently kissing Judith on the forehead.

Iris stands straight again and turns to the supply drawers, "what're you looking for?" Daryl asks, "i gotta do something" iris mumbles, grabbing supplies before turning and rushing back over to Judith, she carefully lifts the blood soaked rag off of Judith wound, she assesses the injury, using her teeth she rips the pack of bandages open and holds them down on the wound and ties a cloth around it.

"Judith?" Iris questions,, noticing the girl stirring awake, "What's happening?" she asks, looking up at Daryl and Iris, Daryl gently hushes her and strokes her hair back, "What's happening? Where am I?" Judith asks, lifting her head and looking around, "Shh. It's okay. You're at the hospital." Daryl says softly.

Iris holds onto Judith hand again, "Why? Why? Am I gonna die?" Judith panics, "No, no. You're not gonna die." Iris says, "Feels like... It feels like I'm gonna die. I can't. Mom's gonna find Dad, and we're gonna be together. We're all gonna be together. But right now, it just... It feels like..." the girl cries.

"Shh. You're not gonna die. You're fine. You're fine." Daryl whispers, gently stroking the girls hair, "She told me this thing she told Dad. She said, 'We're the ones...'" Judith's eyes close again "Jude. Jude." Iris panics, "Come on, wake up. Come on, girl. Jude!" Daryl says, gently tapping the girls cheeks.

"Walkers breached. We gotta go." Carol says, standing in the doorway, "I can't. I can't go." Daryl says, "Carol, do you copy?!" Rosita asks through the walkie, "Jude. Jude, come on. Wake up." Iris begs, "Rosita, where are you?" Carol asks, "We're in the alley behind... Behind the hospital. We went through a horde of walkers. Oh, my God. Our ride is fucked!"

"We gotta go." Carol says, Iris lets go of Judith's hand, she kicks the brakes off the bed and they start to wheel it out of the room, Daryl stops in the doorway and Iris looks at him confused, "what are you doing?" she asks, "bring her back in" Daryl says, Iris pulls the bed back into the room.

"You're gonna be okay, Jude." Daryl says, carefully pulling the needle out of Judith's arm, Iris pulls out her sword and walks out of the room with daryl behind her, they push another bed in front of the door, "step back" Daryl says, Iris listens and watches as the man pulls the shelves down, adding an extra barrier,

Iris looks through the room window, looking at Judith laying on the bed, "i love you kid" she whispers before rushing off, "holy shit" she exclaims, watching a walker smash a rock against the window, the glass shatters, Iris raises her sword and steps towards the walkers, slicing her blade through their heads.

"We gotta move! Run!" Daryl shouts as the walkers push the doors open, "lets go!" Iris yells "Go! Run!" Daryl orders, Iris runs to the room Judith is in, Daryl lifts the shelf and Iris pushes the bed out of the way, "Get behind me!" Daryl shouts, pulling Judith bed out of the room, "Someone radio the others. Tell them the hospital's been breached." Iris orders.

"On it. The hospital's breached. We're leaving out the back." "Come on, this way." Daryl says, they stop at the end of the corridor, dodging the walkers as they stumble towards them, Iris slices her sword through the walkers, giving the others a chance to get away, "Iris come on!" Magna shouts, grabbing the woman's none injured arm and pulling her away.
