The sun peeked over the horizon, casting a golden glow over Konkan. Savi lay awake in her room, her heart racing with excitement and nerves. Today was the day she had dreamed of, but the reality of it all made her stomach flutter with anticipation. The sounds of laughter and chaos floated in from the living room as her family and friends prepared for the celebration.
As Savi sat up, she took a moment to breathe deeply, trying to calm the butterflies in her stomach. "It's just a wedding," she whispered to herself, but deep down, she knew it was so much more. Today was the day she would promise her heart to Rajat forever.
The moment she stepped into the beautifully decorated bathroom, the chaos of the day began. Her mother, Isha, was bustling around, overseeing every detail of the preparations. "Savi, you need to hurry! The makeup artist is waiting, and we still have to drape your saree!" Isha called out, glancing at the clock.
"Mom, I can't find my jewellery! Where's the necklace I chose?" Savi shouted back, panic rising in her voice. She rifled through her things, the stress of the day beginning to mount.
"It's on the dresser! Focus, sweetheart. You're going to look breathtaking," Isha encouraged, gently reminding Savi to take a deep breath.
Savi hurried to the dresser, finding the delicate gold jewellery she had chosen for the occasion. The intricate design shimmered in the light, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of being overwhelmed. She felt like everything had to be perfect.
As the makeup artist worked her magic, Savi's mind raced with thoughts of the day ahead. Would everything go smoothly? Would the rain hold off? Would she be able to say her vows without breaking down in tears?
Just then, Isha walked in holding a small envelope. "This came for you, dear," she said, handing it to Savi.
Curious, Savi opened the note, recognizing Rajat's handwriting immediately. The simple words made her heart flutter: "Can't wait to call you mine."
Tears filled her eyes as she read the note, and a smile spread across her face. "I needed this," she whispered, clutching the note to her chest. Isha noticed the change in her daughter's demeanour.
"That's my boy," Isha said, her eyes twinkling with pride. "He loves you so much."
As Savi got dressed in her elegant saree, she could hear the waves crashing against the shore outside, a calming sound amidst the chaos. The fabric felt luxurious against her skin, and the intricate embroidery sparkled as she moved. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and gasped. The reflection staring back at her was beautiful—a vision of grace and elegance.
"Absolutely stunning!" Isha exclaimed as she finished the last touches. "You'll take Rajat's breath away."
With her hair elegantly styled and makeup flawlessly done, Savi took a deep breath and headed toward the mandap, her heart pounding in anticipation.
As she walked down the aisle, time seemed to stand still. The sight before her was surreal. The mandap, adorned with vibrant flowers and draped in delicate fabrics, stood against the backdrop of the ocean. Friends and family filled the seats, their faces beaming with joy. Savi focused on Rajat, who stood at the altar, dressed impeccably in a traditional outfit, his eyes locked onto hers.
In that moment, all her worries faded away. It was just the two of them—the world around her melted into a blur. As she approached, Rajat's eyes filled with awe, and his lips curled into a warm smile.
"You look like a goddess," he whispered as she reached the altar, his voice low and filled with admiration.
Savi felt her cheeks flush, the flutter of excitement returning. "You clean up pretty well yourself," she flirted back, a playful smile breaking through her nervousness.
Rajat stepped closer, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I can't help but be mesmerised. But just to be clear, you know I'm the luckiest man in the world, right?"
She laughed softly, the tension easing as their gazes locked. "Only if you remember not to throw the towel on the bed," Savi teased, raising an eyebrow.
Rajat chuckled, his playful demeanour making her heart soar. "I promise to do my best," he said, placing a reassuring hand over hers.
As the ceremony began, Savi tried to concentrate on the words being spoken, but Rajat's teasing glances kept her distracted. Each time their eyes met, there was a silent understanding—a connection that felt deeper than anything she had ever known.
When the time came for the ceremony to proceed with rituals and traditions, Savi felt a wave of joy wash over her. Each moment was infused with meaning, surrounded by their loved ones. Rajat remained close by her side, offering her encouraging smiles that made her heart flutter.
After a particularly meaningful ritual, Savi turned to Rajat, her heart swelling with affection. "I can't believe we're finally here."
"Just wait until you see the honeymoon I have planned for us," Rajat said, his voice teasing. "I promise it'll be unforgettable."
Savi laughed, her heart lighter than ever. "You better not disappoint," she replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
As the ceremony continued, the priest guided them through various traditions, and Savi found herself immersed in the beauty of the moment. She caught Rajat stealing glances at her, and each time their eyes met, it felt like a secret shared only between them.
When the time came for the final rituals, Savi felt her heart race with anticipation. She had dreamed of this moment, and now that it was here, it felt surreal. Rajat held her hand tightly, offering her strength as they prepared for the final blessings.
"Just remember, no matter what happens today, we're in this together," Rajat whispered, squeezing her hand. "You've got this."
With his words echoing in her mind, Savi took a deep breath, ready to embrace whatever came next. They stood together, ready to take the next step in their journey, surrounded by the love of their friends and family.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the beach, Savi felt an overwhelming sense of happiness and hope. Today marked not just the beginning of their marriage but a new chapter in their lives. With Rajat by her side, she knew that together they could conquer anything life threw at them.
