A few weeks into their married life, Savi felt a comfortable rhythm settling in. It was surprising how easily she and Rajat had merged their lives together—despite the quirks, despite the arguments over silly things like which side of the bed was his or who controlled the AC.

But tonight, that rhythm was pleasantly interrupted by a message from her past. Her phone buzzed, and the familiar name on the screen made her heart skip a beat. Anshita calling...

Savi picked up with a wide smile. "Anshita! Oh my god, it's been forever!"

"I know!" Anshita's voice bubbled with excitement. "How have you been, Mrs. Bhosale—oops, I mean Mrs. Thakkar?"

Savi laughed, already feeling the warmth of her old friend. "It still feels weird when people call me that! So, what's the big news? What brings you back to Mumbai?"

"Well, I'm coming for a work conference, but I couldn't resist meeting my favourite college roommate," Anshita said playfully. "How about dinner? I need to see this glow everyone talks about when people get married!"

Savi grinned. "You got it! Let's meet tomorrow night—just like old times."

The next evening, Savi arrived at a cozy rooftop restaurant, the city lights twinkling below them. She waved as soon as she spotted Anshita, who rushed over to embrace her tightly.

"You look amazing!" Anshita exclaimed, pulling back to study Savi's face. "So, marriage suits you, huh?"

Savi blushed. "It's... an adjustment. But I love it."

They slipped into a booth, ordering food and drinks. Conversation flowed easily, like no time had passed at all. They laughed about the pranks they pulled during college, shared updates about mutual friends, and gossiped about their work lives.

"So," Anshita said after a sip of wine, "Rajat really turned out to be your guy, huh? You know, I always thought something was there between you two."

Savi chuckled, shaking her head. "Honestly, I never thought it would happen. Life had other plans for us, though."

Anshita leaned forward with a conspiratorial grin. "By the way, did he ever tell you how he reached out to me?"

Savi frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"

"Oh, months ago—when Rajat was still in Paris—he called me out of nowhere. He wanted to know if I had your number or if I knew where you were working. He seemed... desperate to find you."

Savi's heart stopped for a moment. She hadn't known. Rajat had never mentioned reaching out to her old friends in his search. "He... he did that?"

Anshita nodded casually. "Yeah. He was so sincere about it. I could tell he didn't want to lose you again."

A lump formed in Savi's throat. The thought of Rajat, halfway across the world, trying to track her down through old connections, touched her deeply. He really did everything he could to find me.

"That man," Anshita said with a knowing smile, "he was serious from the start. You're one lucky woman, Savi."

Later that night, back in their apartment, Savi lay in bed next to Rajat, her thoughts swirling. The revelation from Anshita filled her with gratitude, but also guilt. She remembered all the walls she had built between them, all the moments she doubted his intentions. And yet, Rajat had crossed oceans—both literal and emotional—to be with her.

She turned on her side to look at him. He was lounging with a book in hand, his glasses perched low on his nose. The sight of him—calm, comfortable, completely hers—made her heart swell.

"Rajat?" she whispered.

He glanced over, his lips curling into a small smile. "Hmm? What's on your mind?"

Savi bit her lip, unsure how to put her feelings into words. "I had dinner with Anshita tonight."

Rajat closed his book, setting it aside. "How is she?"

"She's good. But... she told me something." Savi hesitated before continuing. "She said you called her months ago, trying to find me."

Rajat's expression softened. "Yeah, I did. I tried everything. I didn't know how else to reach you, and I couldn't stand the thought of never seeing you again."

Savi's heart twisted, emotions bubbling to the surface. "You never told me."

Rajat shrugged gently. "It didn't seem important. What mattered was finding you—and I did."

Her eyes filled with tears. "You went through all that trouble for me? Even after everything?"

"Of course I did," he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I would have travelled across the world to find you, Savi."

Tears slipped down her cheeks, and she buried her face in his shoulder. "Thank you for finding me," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

Rajat wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "There's no need to thank me. I would do it all over again. I would have travelled across the world to find you, Savi."

They lay in silence for a moment, the weight of their journey pressing gently against them. Savi felt safe, cocooned in his arms, knowing that they had fought for this love—fought hard, and won.

"I never thought I deserved this," she murmured, tracing soft patterns on his chest. "But you... you make me believe I do."

Rajat kissed the top of her head, his lips lingering there. "You deserve the world, Savi. And I'll make sure you never forget that."

She smiled against his chest, a warmth spreading through her. "I love you, Rajat."

"I love you too," he whispered, his voice steady and sure.

They lay like that for a long time, their hearts beating in sync. For Savi, this was the peace she had been searching for all along—the knowledge that no matter what challenges came their way, they would face them together.

As she drifted off to sleep, one thought lingered in her mind: This is what love feels like—choosing each other, over and over again.

In the weeks that followed, Savi carried that feeling with her—through every morning coffee, every work meeting, and every playful argument over AC temperatures. It was a love built not on grand gestures, but on small moments, quiet promises, and the certainty that they would always find their way back to each other.

Their story wasn't perfect, but it was theirs. And that, Savi realized, was more than enough.
