The sun was just beginning to rise when Colby woke up to the faint sound of Carter stirring in his crib. Malia was still fast asleep, her soft breaths steady beside him. Not wanting to disturb her, Colby got up, still shirtless from the night before, and made his way to Carter's room.

As soon as Colby stepped in, Carter was standing in his crib, clutching his dinosaur blanket, his big eyes lighting up when he saw his dad.

"Morning, little man," Colby said softly, scooping Carter up. "Did you sleep okay?"

Carter snuggled into his dad's chest, still sleepy but starting to wiggle with energy. Colby carried him to the changing table, gently setting him down.

"Alright, let's get you cleaned up," Colby said, reaching for a fresh diaper and wipes. Carter kicked his legs playfully, giggling at the sight of his dad's chest.

"You think it's funny, huh?" Colby smirked, leaning down to playfully blow a raspberry on Carter's belly. This sent Carter into a fit of giggles, making the diaper change much easier.

Once he was all cleaned up, Colby carried Carter to the kitchen, holding him on one arm while he used the other to prepare a bottle. Carter, still clutching his blanket, rested his head on Colby's shoulder, his tiny hands clutching at his dad's skin.

"Hungry, bud? Let's get some milk in you," Colby said, popping the bottle into Carter's mouth. Carter drank eagerly, his little legs dangling as Colby swayed gently back and forth.

Malia walked into the kitchen a few minutes later, stretching and smiling at the sight of her husband and son. "You're up early," she said, stepping over to kiss Colby on the cheek.

"Someone needed their dad," Colby said, tilting his head toward Carter, who was still finishing his bottle.

Malia ran a hand through Carter's soft hair. "He's definitely a daddy's boy in the mornings."

Colby chuckled, adjusting Carter in his arms. "Can't blame him. I'm a pretty cool dad."

Carter finished his bottle, letting out a tiny burp that made both parents laugh. Colby set the bottle down and kissed Carter's cheek, whispering, "Ready to start the day?"

Carter gave a small, sleepy nod, leaning back into Colby's chest, content and calm in his dad's arms.
