Colby stood in Carter's room, surrounded by tiny shirts, pants, and pajamas scattered across the floor. He had decided it was time to reorganize Carter's closet—again. Between Carter's rapid growth and his occasional energy-filled antics, keeping things tidy was always a challenge.
Colby started by pulling everything out of the closet and sorting it into piles: clothes that still fit, items too small to keep, and a stack of brand-new outfits Malia had recently picked up. As he worked, Carter sat nearby on his soft dinosaur rug, nibbling on the ear of a stuffed animal while occasionally tugging at Colby's sleeve to get his attention.
"Hold on, buddy. Daddy's almost done," Colby said, folding a stack of Carter's favorite dinosaur-themed shirts.
Carter whined and tugged harder, wanting to play. "Later, okay? Let's finish this first," Colby reassured him, gently tapping his nose.
After a few more minutes, Colby decided to keep Carter entertained by handing him some clothes hangers and letting him "help." Carter gleefully banged the hangers together, pretending they were a toy.
Malia peeked into the room and chuckled at the scene. "Need any help?" she asked.
"Nah, I've got it," Colby replied, though he was already balancing a precarious tower of folded clothes. "But if you can convince him to stop chewing on that stuffed animal, I wouldn't mind."
By the time Colby finished, Carter's closet was neatly arranged. Shirts were hung by size, pants were folded on shelves, and a bin of socks and accessories sat in easy reach. Colby even made space for the new sneakers Carter had yet to wear and lined up a few of Carter's favorite toys in the corner.
"All done, buddy," Colby said, picking Carter up and tossing him gently in the air. Carter giggled and clapped his hands, clearly approving of his dad's hard work.
