I remember all the times I spent with Mikey before I fell in love with him, and I remember the exact moment it happened. 

It was sometime in September 2005, shortly before Baji's death. Mikey had come over to my house because my parents were overseas visiting family. Although my parents didn't approve of me being friends with gang members, they still welcomed everyone who I was friends with. Their only rule was that I wasn't allowed to take drugs or commit crimes. 

Mikey and I were in the garden when it happened. It's a bit of a cliché, the kind of moment you'd expect to see in a TV show but that's how I fell for him.

It was a somewhat warm day. He was lying on the grass as the sun bathed him in its warm, golden rays. I was sitting beside him, absentmindedly staring at the flowers my dad had planted some time ago. 

I don't know how I hadn't noticed him moving, but suddenly Mikey sat up and leaned his head on my shoulder. His arm, which had been supporting him with his hand on the ground, wrapped itself gently around my waist and hip.

My heart skipped a beat. Looking back now, as a teenager I didn't have much experience with romance, let alone moments like this.

Mikey started poking my cheek over and over, his voice playful as he complained about being hungry and insisting I make him food. I swatted at his hand, trying to push his wrist away, but he just pressed back while laughing at my growing frustration.

It became a back and forth, his teasing relentless until suddenly he grabbed my wrist. With one quick motion, he pulled me on top of him and catching me completely off guard. I landed awkwardly, my hands between his and my chest, as his arms wrapped tightly around my back, trapping me in place.

Everything around me seemed to pause for a moment. I could feel the warmth of the sun on the back of my head, the soft grass brushing against my ankles, and the steady rise and fall of his chest. Manjiros grin was as carefree as ever, but there was something about his eyes that made my heart race.

I realised I had fallen in love.

You snapped back into reality as you realized you had been staring at Manjiro, the older, colder version of him. The person he had become. You didn't look away, though. His voice cut through your thoughts as he spoke about opening another club, the plan to make it appear legitimate in order to cover up their deals and trades.

You shifted your gaze down to the tablet resting on your lap, your fingers moving quickly to jot down the important points. You had to get this right, notes on the new business plan, the names, the connections. Once you were done, you would send it over to Ran. He and Rindou were going to be the 'owners' of the new club, but they would keep their hands clean, having someone else manage everything in person. Someone who would deal with employees, run the day-to-day operations, while the workers would have no idea they were actually working for Bonten.

"Kokonoi, how much would everything cost?" Mikey asked, his tone casual but expectant. 

Kokonoi was scrolling through his phone, the glow of the screen reflecting faintly against his sharp features. Every so often, he'd flip his silver hair back, the motion effortless, almost habitual. 

Sassy bitch. You thought mindlessly, your gaze shifting to Kokonoi. There was no real intent behind the thought, no malice, just an unfiltered observation as you took in the way he carried himself. It wasn't meant to insult him; it was simply the first thing that popped into your head as you watched him flip his silver hair back with an effortless air of confidence.
