Let's look at the bigger picture. No, not the current happenings of the Conomi Archipelago. This goes beyond the East Blue. The Grand Line, actually.
Kuraigana Island.
Inside the castle, a middle aged swordsman sat in his chair, sipping a glass of red wine.
"A refill, please."
"Of course."
The woman slowly poured more of the liquor into his glass, before throwing herself comfortably on the chair across from him, lifting her legs and resting them on the table, connecting the wine bottle with her lips and gulping down the contents.
"Tomo... as impolite as ever. I suppose you'll never change."
"You're too uptight, old man. Life's about the crazy."
She laughed, the alcoholic content reddening her cheeks.
"Speaking of crazy, I had someone challenge me for the position of Greatest Swordsman."
"Oh? What happened...?"
Her mismatched eyes flickered up to his, leaning forward and swinging her feet down to under the table where they belonged.
"He was a young man about your age, emerald colored hair—"
"Just say his hair was green, dammit..."
"Would you like me to tell the story or not?"
"Continue, old man."
"He had potential. Though he failed, part of me wants him to challenge me again..."
He swirled the red liquid in the glass, looking at the whirlpool that formed.
"What was his name?"
"Roronoa Zoro."
"Roronoa... Roronoa... Pirate Hunter Zoro from the East Blue? That guy?"
"Yes. He seemed to associate with this boy... wearing a straw hat, Luffy, I believe."
"Fascinating..."
"You want to go out and see them, don't you..."
The man sighed, and Tomo nodded.
"I'm bored in this shitty castle all the time, old man. I wanna go out to sea."
"You do go out to sea. All the time."
"I want to be a pirate. Not a Warlord like you, I don't want to identify with the World Government at all. I want to burn Pangaea Castle to the ground and watch those fucking assholes die. All of them!!"
Tomo threw her bottle onto the ground, the glass shattering loudly. She breathed heavily, tears welling up in her eyes. Dracule Mihawk opted to stay quiet, letting her calm herself down. She was a grown woman, after all.
The blonde sighs out, breathing the stress out of her body.
"I know about your resent to the World Government, don't worry."
"Think I could really wreak havoc on Mary Geoise, though? What say you, geezer?"
She leans her head towards her folded hands, a grin spreading across her face. Foundation was applied to the slice on her lips, concealing it. It was embarrassing.
"You're a rather wild individual, I have no doubt you could at least cause a fuss. However, you would be killed right away. Don't just go to do something if you can't follow through."
"You're right... that's why I need people who are like minded, batshit crazy. My first step is that Roronoa Zoro and his little friend, Luffy."
She giggles, before leaning back, and turning the tip of her finger into water, and spinning the now orb like water sphere on the appendage.
"I wonder what they are like."
