A sight that becomes more common as you grow up is an assignment filled, cluttered desk. A stack of papers that need to be read through and stamped, a pile of magazines that also need to be read through, a handful of unread emails containing PDFs that also need to be read through, a stash of dried out pens inside of a pen holder cup from signing off things, and to complete the whole set, an untouched cup of coffee to keep yourself awake gone cold.

Taehyun sighed, laying his head on his folded arms as his tired doe-like eyes roamed everything sitting on his desk.

He knew his posture was just a recipe for temporary neck pain and a potentially aching spine from sitting for hours, but today out of all days—

I could care less.

The door to his office opened to reveal his boss, carrying his little planner notebook in his hands.

"Mr Kang?"

The brunette immediately scrambled up from his position, straightening himself and clearing his throat.

"Oh uhm, g-good evening sir."

"Is everything alright?" Myung Jaehyun asked skeptically.

"Yes sir, I-I'm just... I got distracted," Taehyun bashfully admitted.

"I can see that. You look worrisomely tired though."

Taehyun waved it off.

"Don't worry about me, I know the company is launching the new project for the spring season, w-we're all on edge—"

"Taehyun hyung."

He stilled completely when he heard Jaehyun address him by his name and the honorific, not by his surname.

"Go home and rest."

"But I—"

"That's an order. You need to be in better shape, and clearly you are not. I'll let Wonhee know as she's your partner for this project that you're going home."

Jaehyun's amazing quality was that his voice was both gentle but authoritative. He never snapped at his employees, but it was clear when you can speak against his orders, and when not to.

This was a case of "you better do as he says".

Taehyun let out another exhale, and smiled wearily at him.

"Thank you. I'll try to come back in better spirits."

"I hope so too. Not so much for the project, but for yourself."

Jaehyun sent an encouraging smile his way, before carefully closing the door. As soon as he was out of sight, and his footsteps retreated, Taehyun let out an exasperated groan, his head sinking into his hands, which crept into his hair.

"URGHHHH!!"

I hate this. Ten years, and I still haven't moved on.

The sliding doors of the sleek company building slid open and closed as Taehyun exited the building, and out into the chilly evening air.

Spring was only a few weeks' time away, but Taehyun wished it could be warmer already.
