I sat in my office going through a few details for Zendaya's birthday party when there was a knock at my door. "Come in" I called keeping my eyes focused the many emails I had regarding possible venues for the event, as I expected Brittany to be entering the room.
"Channel" a voice called that was very familiar, but that definitely didn't belong to Brittany. I looked up completely shocked at who was standing there.
"Ms. April?" I gasped in disbelief as I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Hey honey" she said with a bright smile as she entered my office with open arms. I got up from my desk and ran over to her, engulfing her in my arms.
"Oh my God! What are you doing here?" I asked as we still clung to each other. "Wait, did you come see me yesterday?" I asked and she nodded
"Why didn't you leave a number for me or something?" I pulled away from her
"I figured just coming back here would be better and I just really missed you Hun, so I wanted to see your face" she said pulling me into another hug.
"I miss you too." I said honestly. Despite what went down between me and Trey, I still loved his mom just the same. She always looked out for me, and I felt a little bad that I stopped talking to her after things went down between me and Trey. I just felt that everything would've been really awkward. "Come on, have a seat. Do you want anything to drink? Coffee? Tea? Water? Anything?" I asked
"No honey, I'm fine." She said fanning me off
"Are you sure?"
"Yea baby." She reassured me "Come on, sit down. How have you been?" She asked as I took a seat at my desk.
"Ive been great." I said, even though I had been a little down with Elliot leaving me last night, I was doing pretty good besides that and just simply over all in life.
"That's good." She said giving me a bright smile. "You're mom told me about all you were doing out here. I never bothered to call because I could understand your position. I know what Trey did and I wouldn't wanna consistently keep in contact with my ex's mother either. It could make a lot of things awkward." She said smiling and I instantly felt better knowing that she understood where I came from.
"I'm proud of you though. I've heard so many great things about your work, which actually brings me to why I came to you." She began. I remained silent waiting on her to continue "I'm not sure if you know, but Trey started this foundation called Angels With Heart. It's a really great program that helps different people out and he tried to find ways to give to different people." She stated
"Yea, I've heard of it. I think it's really amazing." I said with a smile. It was just like Trey to wanna give back and I was happy that he was getting the chance to that. Whenever he talked about his career, he always said that he wanted to have a foundation and I'm glad that dream came true for him.
"I'm very involved in it, and I do a lot of leg work for him in regards to it. We're throwing a function, like a banquet to honor young men and women in the military." She said and my eyes immediately went to the photo of Elliot and I on my desk.
"Boyfriend?" She asked smiling as her eyes followed mine.
"Yea" I nodded "He's in the army as well"
"You guys make a beautiful couple." She said
"Thanks, but back to you. Tell me more about what you're trying to do."
"Yes, well like I said, were planning a banquet for military workers and I've been having quite a bit of trouble planning it. My event planner moved to Australia and everybody that I've tried to work with doesn't understand my vision. I know you're capable of that and I know that this is probably a conflict of interest with what happened between you and Trey but I really need your help on this." I sat back in my chair and pursed my lips together. Working with her would most likely mean that seeing Trey was a possibility, but I would feel bad saying no to his mom. It's been five years since I saw Trey and I didn't know how I would react when I saw him I again but it shouldn't be anything to worry about. I had somebody new and, according to the blogs, so did he. I was over Trey and everything that happened but I felt like things would be awkward. I looked at Ms. April and she honestly looked desperate and to be completely honest, I can't say no to her. I took a deep breath before agreeing to help her out.
