"You okay?" I heard as as I looked over my outfit one last time.
"Yea I guess. I'm just a little nervous." It's been a few weeks since I got that email from my father and after taking some time to think about it, I finally decided that I should meet up with him face to face.
"You'll be fine. Just give him a chance to get to know you. If it doesn't work out, he's the one missing out. He's crazy if he doesn't wanna be in your life." Trey said putting a smile on my face.
"Thank you"
"No problem baby," he said placing a kiss on my forehead
"What are you doing today?"
"I'm gonna go to the studio, hang out with the guys a little later. Nothing too crazy" he said before I heard my phone going off on the nightstand. I picked it up to see a text from Jeffery telling me that he would meet me at IHOP at 12:30. It was 11:45 now so I decided to get going since I knew the traffic was heavy.
"Alright. Well enjoy your day, I'm gonna get out of here." I said placing a kiss on his lips before turning to walk away but before I could get out the door, he grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"I want more than just that little kiss" he said placing his hands around my waist and kissing me passionately. I smiled through the kiss before pulling away.
"I have to go, baby," I laughed
"Alright, call me if you need anything. You sure you don't want me to come?" he asked and I shook my head.
"I'm positive. I kind of wanna do this on my own." I said and he nodded.
"Okay, well call me and tell me how it goes," he said and I nodded before giving him one last kiss, and making my way out of Trey's room, down the steps and out front to my Range Rover. I hopped in the driver's seat and quickly started the car before pulling out of Trey's gate. As I drove, I couldn't help but think about the time Trey and I had spent together. Trey and I have been dating and to be completely honest, I loved him but I was still afraid to trust him and I felt like that was holding me back. I needed to get over this, but I didn't know how. He's been there for me through a lot, but I'm still very afraid that we would have a repeat of him cheating on me, and my heart honestly couldn't handle it. I took a deep breath deciding to change my train of thought and focus on the matter at hand. Today was the second time in my entire life that I was going to see my dad and I was nervous. I didn't know what he would say to me, I didn't know what I would say to him, and I didn't know what the future held for us.
Before I knew it, I was pulling up to IHOP with a few minutes to spare. Since it was a weekday, it wasn't crowded so I easily found parking and made my way inside. When I walked in, I spotted Jeffery already sitting in a booth and I went and took a seat across from him.
"Hi" I said softly as I settled into the booth
"Hi" he smiled, "I'm glad you finally took me up on this offer to meet me."
"Yea, well I guess I couldn't ignore you like you did me," I said and my eyes widened once the words finally came out of my mouth "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that," I said and I saw him smirk a little
"It's fine, you have a sharp mouth, just like your mother," he said causing me to chuckle. "I did deserve it, though." I kept my head down in an effort to hide my facial expression since I always had trouble controlling them. We were both quiet for a moment before he cleared his throat and began speaking again."How have you been, though? I see you started your own business?"
