"Hey baby" I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist as I hung a few stockings on the fireplace. Next week was Christmas and I was so busy with work that I hadn't gotten the chance to decorate since Trey and I would be hosting dinner this year. I turned around in Trey's arm and placed a kiss on his lips
"Hello handsome" I said laying my head on his chest and moving my arms from his neck to wrapping them around his back.
"You okay? You seem tired?" He asked placing a kiss on my forehead
"I am, but I needed to decorate for the party. I won't have time to do it for the rest of the week." I replied with a sigh
"You know you work too hard baby. When I said I" do" I also vowed to take care of you." He said bringing a smile to my face reminding me of our wedding 2 years ago. It was everything I could've ever imagined and more. It was intimate, beautiful and most importantly I married my best friend. "I would never ask you to give up your job, but maybe just take on a little bit less. You don't need to so stressed out and exhausted, especially not now."
"I know babe, it's just hard. I love what I do and I get so many great opportunities, I hate having to pass them up" I said looking up at him
"I know you do. I just don't want you stressing yourself out." he repeated
"I know. I'll slow down, I promise."
"Good" he said pecking my lips. Now come on, we're going to sleep" Trey said sweeping me off my feet and carrying me towards the steps bridal style. Once we made it to my room, he placed me on the bed and pulled the covers over me. He then walked around to the other side, stripped down to his briefs and got into the bed with me. Once he was in, he pulled the sheets over himself before pulling me close. When he was comfortable, he placed his hand one my stomach and gently rubbed it.
"Can you believe we're having a baby?" He chuckled "I can't wait to meet my little guy"
"How are you so sure it's a boy? What if I'm having a little Nelly?" I asked
"As long as I have a little Minnie us to spoil, I'm fine"
"If it's a girl she's probably gonna be a such a little brat. You're gonna spoil her rotten"
"Exactly, just like I spoil you" he said causing me to roll my eyes. "Don't act like you don't enjoy it."
"It's okay" I said with a shrug "I just want our kid to know they still have to work for stuff and to know that no means no. " I said and he nodded
"I get it. We'll raise them right though, I know we will." He said while playing in my hair
"I can't wait to tell everybody." I giggled thinking about how Candace, who I, now, genuinely called 'mom' and my dad, who I had grown extremely close to, would react. "I know my dad is gonna love this. He probably won't even want his gifts after he hears." I said causing Trey to chuckle.
"Yea, he was asking us about kids the second after we got married"
"I'm happy we didn't have a kid right away though. It was nice to spend all that time traveling, I've always wanted to go to those places."
