"So," Dominic looked at the clock and then at the four boys in front of him.
"Here we are again." The boys nodded uncomfortably and looked around them a bit lost.
"Did you guys manage? Were you able to write enough decent songs?" Devon nodded quickly after the question but that was all he did other than look around at the rest of the band.
"Yeah, sure, it went well." He said softly, Blackwood nodded with an awkward smile then looked at his watch.
"Why don't you play me one of your songs?" Isaiah stared blankly ahead of him and didn't try to keep the conversation going, it just wasn't in his nature. Especially when he didn't feel like it at all.
"Nathan was going to take everything with him after he was done producing everything. So we can't really play anything." Lynx said softly, out of place. He hated everything about this situation, the man in front of him, the building he was in, the methods being used and really... well, everything.
"I hope he knows that I'm a busy man and don't have all day." James bit his lip while maintaining a fake smile.
"I'm sure he's kept that in mind." James said impatiently.
"Because if he isn't here in a few minutes, it looks like you've blown your chance, James." James pulled his lips inward, feeling fear creeping up on him. What if this didn't go the way it was supposed to. Then everything would be completely fucked. For all of them. Being a musician is a dream for all of the members.
"Come on, Nathan." James muttered to himself while tapping his foot onto the ground.
"I made it!" Nathan walked in with a sweaty forehead and a shoulder bag full of demos. Dominic Blackwood smiled slightly.
"I mean, sorry I'm late, sir. The bus got delayed. You know how it is." He cleared his throat and saw that there was only room next to James. He sighed and then sat down next to his bandmate in annoyance.
"Here are the demos." Nathan was still catching his breath as he fished a CD cover out of his bag and handed it to the big man in front of them. Dominic took it and looked at the cover Nathan had managed to cobble together.
"I will listen to it, but not right now cause you're too late. I'll see you next week. Same time, Nathan." Mr. Blackwood looked Nathan sharply in the eye as he said his name.
"Well, next week isn't really convenient, because I-"
"How badly do you want this, Nathan." Nathan looked at him in shock.
"Very badly, sir, but next week-" Mr. Blackwood gave Nathan a stern, emotionless look.
"Then take it, seriously."
"Yes, sir." Nathan cleared his throat and stood up from his chair again, walking towards the exit of his office. James quickly followed behind him.
"Nathan." Nathan looked behind him and rolled his eyes.
"What's going on next week then?" Nathan walked briskly towards the stairs.
"Next week will be exactly four years since mum died." James bit his lip and followed him.
"I'll ask him if he can reschedule."
"Leave it, James."
"No, honestly, no problem. I'm sure he'll listen to me." Nathan turned around with an angry look.
"And that's exactly the problem. If I can't fix it myself, I don't want someone else to do it for me. Just because they're more important than me!" Nathan looked at James for a moment and then continued walking.
"I don't think that's what this is about." Nathan laughed humorlessly as he walked down the stairs, toward the building's exit.
"Oh yeah? What is this about then?"
"You know what I'm talking about." Nathan paused for a moment, then opened the door that let him out of the building.
"No, no I don't." James laughed in disbelief and followed his friend.
"Are you seriously going to pretend nothing happened? Alright, you may have been wasted but-' Nathan turned around and looked at James intently.
"Nothing happened!" James looked into Nathan's eyes with a startled look.
"You shouldn't hide the truth from yourself Nathan." Nathan felt a painful sensation shivering in his body but he ignored it.
"I fell asleep drunk, and woke up in your bed." James looked hopefully into Nathan's eyes.
"There was something exactly in the middle that also happened." Nathan thought, and saw flashes of it in his memory.
"No, I can't remember that." James looked at him for a moment. Silently. Then he nodded, disappointed.
"Fine. Then nothing happened." Nathan nodded intently.
"Because nothing ever happened." James sighed and raised his eyebrows.
"Whatever you want Nathan. Whatever you fucking want." James said as he calmly walked away with a stab in his heart.Nathan stood there as he watched James slowly walk down the street and out of his sight. Then he was startled by a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey! You were just on time, huh? Otherwise we'd be screwed." Lynx said with a laugh in his voice. Nathan cleared his throat and smiled away his shitty feeling. He didn't know why he had that feeling. Or maybe he didn't want to know. But he did feel it.
"Yeah." Nathan gave another fake laugh and Lynx's smile disappeared.
"What's up? Did something happen between you and James?" Nathan laughed again, nonchalant this time, hoping it would seem realistic now.
"What? No, why do you think that?" Lynx still didn't believe Nathan's acting.
"Your aura-"
"Oh just fuck off with your aura bullshit, you fucking airy-fairy twat." Nathan muttered as he walked away too. Lynx closed his eyes for a moment.
"Just don't react, he doesn't mean it, he's confused and angry." He said softly to himself. Devon put his arm around Lynx.
"Yeah, don't listen to him. He's been acting all weird ever since he woke up from that party." Isaiah lit a cigarette.
"Does anyone actually know what happened? I just saw him arguing with James, which is strange cause they used to be bff's." Devon looked at Nathan, who he saw walking away.
"I don't get it, there haven't been any major events. Maybe he's just sleep deprived." Lynx shook his head.
"It looked personal. I think Nathan is in conflict with himself." Isaiah took a long drag and let it out again.
"Well, hopefully he'll be back to normal soon." He said monotonously in his deep voice.

Nathan was on the bus home when a pretty girl with a grin sat down opposite him. He looked back sullenly. She bit her lip playfully and Nathan kept that same look on his face from before. Her fingers slid towards the edge of her much too short skirt and her legs that were neatly together before slowly slid apart. Before Nathan could see anything, the bus stopped and the doors opened. In a gust of wind she stood up and bent forward so she could whisper something in Nathan's ear.
"If you want to see more, follow me." She let her fingers slide over Nathan's chin and Nathan bit his lip. He looked around briefly and then followed her out of the bus. He hadn't been on the ground for a second before the doors closed and the bus drove on.The girl walked towards a dark alley and Nathan couldn't think straight. As soon as they had walked just deep enough into the alley, so that the daylight could no longer reach them, the girl pushed Nathan against the wall and pressed her painted lips to his. Nathan immediately grabbed her hips and kissed her roughly back. She moaned excitedly into his mouth and Nathan saw a flashing image of James in his head.
"I see you every day, of course I look at you a lot."
Nathan tried to stop the memory and his hand slid to her breasts. Her hands slid towards the edge of his trousers and the two continued kissing.
"What? Are you flattered when someone of the same sex is interested in you?"
"Oh, I'm so wet, just fuck me now." Nathan caught his breath and the girl turned around so that her back faced him. Nathan tried to shut off his mind once more and he did as he was told.
"Is that it, Nathan? Are you curious?"Nathan nearly bit his lip too hard and started thrusting harder into her. She groaned as she leaned against the wall with her hands. Nathan felt himself getting more and more irritated by the fact that he couldn't keep his mind on the moment."And what if I do like you that way? What would you even do with that information?"
"Oh yeah, yeah right there!" He couldn't even focus on the feeling the only thing he could think about was James.
"for clarity, I am, into you."
"FUCK!" Nathan pulled himself out of her and immediately pulled his pants up. The girl looked around in surprise.
"What's wrong?" Nathan slammed his fist against the wall and he was breathing heavily."I can't do this, sorry, I-" but before he could get anything sensible out he walked out of the alley.
