[A month after that one incident]
Chaeyoung sighed as he stepped into the campus library, the familiar scent of old books and fresh paper filling the air.
He was still annoyed about last week's incident, replaying it in his mind. After that day he had multiple encounters with that devil.
Exactly one week ago, Mina had slammed into him outside the coffee shop, knocking his books and his precious coffee straight to the ground. Instead of apologizing, she'd shot him a sharp look, muttered something about "paying attention," and stormed off. He hadn't even gotten a chance to respond. Who even acted like that?
Shaking his head, Chaeyoung focused on finding a quiet spot. He wove through the rows of tables, finally spotting one near the back. As he approached, though, his footsteps faltered. There she was. The girl from last week. She sat at the table, headphones in, typing furiously on her laptop. For a moment, Chaeyoung considered turning around, but something stopped him. Was it annoyance? Curiosity?
Whatever it was, he squared his shoulders and strode up to the table. "Mind if I sit here?" he asked, voice steady. As much as he didn't want to be with Mina, he just had to give Mina a taste of her own medicine for once.
The girl looked up, pulling out one earbud. Recognition flashed in her eyes, followed by something unreadable. "Oh. It's you," she said flatly. Chaeyoung raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. It's me. Thought I'd give you a chance to apologize for the coffee incident."
She blinked, then gave a small, almost begrudging laugh. "Apologize? You were the one who wasn't looking where you were going. Do you seriously want me to apologize? You literally bumped into me last month as well."
"Pretty sure you were the one charging through like it was a marathon," Chaeyoung shot back, though his tone was more amused than angry.
Mina studied him for a moment, then shrugged. "Are you stupid? Me? Myoui Sharon Mina? Apologizing to the broke Chaeyoung?" She snickered at what she thought was the most unbelievable thing on earth.
Chaeyoung sighs and looks up at Mina. "An apology would be nice," he says calmly, though irritation is in his voice.
Mina tilts her head and narrows her eyes. "Excuse me? You were the one in the way," she snaps, her tone dripping with disdain. "You're seriously pissing me off, Son. Better rethink your choices before I stop being nice."
"In the way? It was a damn coffee place, not a runway. You could've at least looked where you were going," Chaeyoung retorts, his voice rising slightly but still controlled.
Mina folds her arms. "Do you even know who I am? I don't have to apologize to someone who—" she pauses, glancing at his worn clothes and the patchy strap of his backpack—"clearly doesn't belong here."
Chaeyoung stiffens, his expression hardening. "I don't belong here?" He scoffs, rising to his full height, clearly way taller than Mina. "I'm here on a full scholarship because I earned it. What's your excuse? Your daddy's credit card?"
Her cheeks flush with anger and embarrassment. "You're unbelievable! Maybe you should worry more about not being a nuisance than about my family."
"And maybe you should worry about basic manners," Chaeyoung fires back. "You bumped into me, and you can't even admit you were wrong? That says a lot about you."
A tense silence falls between them as other students glance up from their books, watching the drama unfold. Mina's face twists in frustration, but she's at a loss for words. Finally, she scoffs, flips her hair over her shoulder, and storms off, leaving Chaeyoung shaking his head as he sits back down.
