[back to Sana]
Sana stepped onto the campus, the crisp autumn air brushing against her face. The grounds were stunning—tall trees lining the paths, their leaves turning shades of amber and crimson. The modern yet welcoming architecture of the university stood proud, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
She adjusted her designer coat and clutched her purse tighter, her gaze sweeping across the bustling students.
'So this is where Chaeyoung ended up.'
She thought, her lips curving into a small smile.
As she wandered deeper into the campus, memories of their childhood in Japan flashed in her mind. Chaeyoung, with his messy hair and oversized uniform, always hunched over a book, his brows furrowed in concentration. He had always been so determined, so focused.
That determination had brought him here—another scholarship, another achievement.
"Always so smart," she murmured to herself, the thought bringing a mix of admiration and longing.
After a while, Sana found herself near a cozy campus café.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, and the low murmur of conversation created a comforting buzz. She had planned to take a quick look and move on, but then she saw him.
Chaeyoung.
He was standing in line, his hands tucked into his jacket pockets, his signature neatness evident even in the way his backpack straps were adjusted.
He looked older, more mature, but the calm, composed aura about him was exactly the same.
Sana felt her heart skip a beat.
She had been waiting for so long, and there he was, just a few steps ahead.
She instinctively started to move toward him but stopped herself.
'Don't startle him.'
She thought, biting her lip. It had been years since they last saw each other, and while she was desperate to reunite, she wanted to do it the right way.
Instead, she joined the line a few spots behind him, her eyes fixed on his back. She could hear the faint hum of his voice as he placed his order, polite and steady, just as she remembered.
As she waited her turn, she fiddled with the strap of her purse, her mind racing. She wondered how he would react when he saw her. Would he recognize her immediately? Would he be surprised? Happy?
The barista called out his order, and Chaeyoung moved to the side to wait for his drink. Sana's turn came, and she quickly placed her order, trying to act casual.
When she stepped into the waiting area, she found herself just a few feet away from him. She stole glances in his direction, marveling at how much he had grown but also at how familiar he still felt. He was so different yet was still the same boy she met years back.
'Soon,' she thought, clutching her coffee cup.
'I'll talk to you soon.'
