Chaeyoung sat in the cold, sterile interrogation room, his hands nervously fidgeting on the metal table.
The hum of the overhead light seemed deafening in the silence.
Across from him, the interrogator—a man in his 40s with sharp eyes and a calm demeanor—flipped through a file, his face unreadable.
"Son Chaeyoung," the man began, his voice steady but firm,
"we need to talk about Minatozaki Sana."
At the mention of her name, Chaeyoung froze.
His best friend, the person who had been by his side through so much—what could they possibly have to say about her?
The interrogator leaned forward, placing his hands on the table.
"She's not who you think she is. Sana was behind the entire everything.
The kidnappings, the trafficking of vulnerable children... she orchestrated it all."
Chaeyoung's mouth went dry. "What?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"She manipulated not just you, but many more. She made you believe Mina was responsible," the interrogator continued, his tone unrelenting. "It was all part of her plan to keep you under control."
Chaeyoung shook his head, his heart pounding. "That doesn't make any sense. Sana wouldn't... she couldn't..." His voice faltered, the weight of the accusation crashing down on him.
The interrogator remained silent, letting the truth sink in.
Chaeyoung's mind raced, piecing together fragments of memories—the way Sana had always seemed in control, the subtle manipulation in her words, the moments that had felt just slightly off but he had dismissed. He clenched his fists, his frustration boiling over as he slammed his hands onto the table.
"I didn't do anything," he said, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and disbelief. "She made me think it was Mina. She..." He trailed off, burying his face in his hands.
The interrogator didn't press him immediately. Instead, he glanced at his notes. "Mina's safe," he said after a moment. "We rescued her along with you. She's being debriefed in another room."
Chaeyoung's head shot up at that. "Mina's okay?" he asked, his voice tinged with desperation.
"Yes," the interrogator confirmed. "She's shaken, but unharmed."
Relief washed over Chaeyoung for a brief moment, but it was quickly replaced by an overwhelming sense of guilt and confusion.
How could he have doubted Mina?
Mina was many things, but a liar and a fraud.
