I don't love you anymore

Ruhanika had been eagerly awaiting this moment for weeks. The tilak ceremony was a special occasion, not just for her and Rohit, but for their families as well. The preparations were in full swing, and there was an air of excitement as they got ready to mark the beginning of their new life together. She had spent hours picking the perfect dress, making sure everything was just right for the day.

Her heart raced with anticipation as she and Ruhi strolled through the bustling shopping mall. Ruhi, ever the supportive sister, had insisted on going shopping together to help pick out the perfect accessories for Ruhanika’s outfit. Despite the smiles on their faces, there was an unspoken tension in Ruhanika’s heart. The excitement for the ceremony was there, but something felt off. It was as though her intuition was trying to warn her, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.

They were picking out dresses when Ruhanika’s phone buzzed in her hand. The screen flashed with Rohit’s name. Her pulse quickened at the sight of it. It was odd, though; he hadn't called her in a while, not in a way that suggested urgency. Hesitating for just a second, she answered.

"Hello?" she asked, trying to keep her voice light, though a knot had formed in her stomach.

"Ruhanika, meet me at the café. We need to talk," Rohit's voice came through the phone, clipped and emotionless.

Her heart skipped a beat. The words hit her like a cold gust of wind, sending a chill through her spine. She could tell something was wrong, something wasn’t right. There was a strange finality in his voice that made her stomach churn. She glanced at Ruhi, whose back was turned as she looked at a dress on the shelf. Her mind raced, and for a brief moment, she considered telling her sister what Rohit had said, but she didn’t want to worry her. She didn’t want to believe it was anything serious.

"I have to go, Ruhi," she said, trying to sound casual, but her voice betrayed her anxiety. "Rohit wants to meet me. He says it’s urgent."

Ruhi paused and turned around, sensing the change in Ruhanika’s tone. "Are you sure you’re okay?" Ruhi asked, her voice filled with concern.

Ruhanika forced a smile, trying to brush off her unease. "Yeah, I’m fine. Just... I think something came up. I’ll meet you at the house later."

Ruhi didn’t seem convinced, but she nodded. "Alright. But don’t take too long. We still have to get you ready for the ceremony."

Ruhanika nodded, feeling guilty for not sharing her feelings. But she didn’t know what to say. She had no idea what she was walking into.

The café wasn’t far from the shopping mall. As she arrived, Ruhanika saw Rohit sitting at a corner table, looking detached and distant, almost like a stranger. Her heart pounded in her chest as she walked toward him. She tried to shake off the growing sense of dread that was settling deep in her bones. But the closer she got, the more the heaviness in the air weighed down on her.

She reached him, unable to stop herself from throwing her arms around him in a warm, familiar embrace. It was their thing, the way they greeted each other, especially on days like this. But today, his body remained stiff, and he didn’t return the hug. It was as if he was a statue, unmoving, unfeeling. Her heart clenched painfully in her chest.

"Rohit?" she whispered, pulling back slowly. She stared at him, searching his face for any trace of the man she thought she knew. But his eyes were cold, distant. It was like looking at a stranger.

"Sit down," he said flatly, gesturing to the chair across from him. "We need to talk."

Ruhanika’s heart skipped a beat. There was something in his voice that made her blood run cold. She sat down, trying to steady her breath, but her hands were shaking. "What’s going on, Rohit? Why did you want to meet me?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
