Jaehyun spent all night learning how to fish to impress Harold, only for all of it to go to waste. Harold called him early in the morning to cancel the father-and-son-in-law bonding due to a sudden important meeting with some higher-ups. "Maybe next time, son," Harold had said.

Part of Jaehyun was relieved, but another part was oddly disappointed. Not going to lie, he had kind of looked forward to it. Harold had been so nice to him and Mora yesterday, stepping in multiple times to save them from Linda's sharp comments. Agreeing to the fishing trip had been his way of paying Harold back. Now, all he could do was hope the next chance wouldn't come with a 5 a.m. wake-up call.

Before stepping into the office, Jaehyun braced himself for the fallout. He and Mora had agreed to keep up the act, meaning they had to pretend to be engaged even at work. The moment he walked in, Sungho and Taesan pulled him into the copy room.

"You're engaged to Mora?!" Sungho exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"What spell did she cast on you?" Taesan added with a smirk.

Jaehyun let out a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his neck. "Yeah, well... you know, things just happen," he said, trying to sound casual. What was he supposed to say? Oh, my boss forced me into a fake engagement for her family drama?

"So, when's the wedding?" Sungho asked, leaning in.

"Are we invited?" Taesan added, nudging him.

This was going to drag on for days—weeks, even—knowing how nosy Sungho and Taesan could be, especially when juicy gossip like this dropped into their laps. Jaehyun's eyes darted to the door, desperate for an escape. "Can we talk about this later? I actually have work to—"

Right on cue, Mora entered the office, her commanding presence instantly silencing the chatter.

Sungho and Taesan scrambled like startled cats, darting back to their desks with the speed of light. Jaehyun watched them retreat with a mix of relief and resignation, only to freeze when Mora appeared in front of him, a cup of coffee in her hand.

She placed it on his desk with a casualness that felt oddly out of place. "Here," she said simply, as though it were the most normal thing in the world.

Jaehyun blinked at the coffee, then at Mora. "...You actually remembered?"

Mora arched an eyebrow, her expression teetering between mock offense and amusement. "Of course I remembered. What do you take me for?"

Jaehyun shrugged, crossing his arms as he eyed her skeptically. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe someone who gets way too much joy out of making my life difficult?"

Mora let out a scoff and rolled her. "And yet, here I am, being the thoughtful fiancée and bringing you coffee. Ungrateful much?"

Jaehyun took a sip of the coffee and, much to his reluctant delight, it was perfect—smooth, rich, and exactly how he liked it. A rare win. It felt like ages since he'd enjoyed a proper cup without enduring Mora's absurdly complicated drink orders. He shot her a sidelong glance, a smirk tugging at his lips.
