Friday.

Jaehyun swore time was mocking him. Just days ago, he was ready to crash and burn, contemplating the fastest way to disappear off the face of the earth. And now? Now he was standing in line at the airport, waiting for coffee, as if his life wasn't spiraling into a disaster of his own making.

From a distance, he spotted Mora, effortlessly poised with her suitcase beside her. She sat comfortably, legs crossed, her face hidden beneath the brim of an obnoxiously wide hat. Even from here, she looked like she belonged in a first-class lounge, not a crowded airport terminal.

"Order for Jaehyun."

Snapping out of his thoughts, he grabbed his drink, offering the barista a brief nod before making his way over. As he approached, the contrast between them became painfully obvious. He was in a plain hoodie and jeans, and Mora—well, Mora looked like she was about to strut down a runway.

"Do you really have to wear all... this?" Jaehyun gestured vaguely at her, sliding into the seat across from her.

Mora finally looked up from her tablet, arching a perfectly shaped brow. "You've seen me at the airport before. This is how I always dress."

And she wasn't wrong. Her black sheath dress hugged her frame effortlessly, paired with a tailored brown coat and—seriously?—leopard-print heels.

Jaehyun exhaled, shaking his head as he took a sip of his coffee. He wasn't sure why it was throwing him off today. Maybe because this time, he wasn't just seeing her from afar. This time, he was going to be sitting beside her, traveling with her, pretending to be madly in love with her in front of his entire family.

"Yeah, whatever. By the way, the gate opens in an hour," he muttered in response.

Mora nodded, barely acknowledging him before going back to whatever she was doing on her tablet, fingers moving effortlessly as she scrolled and typed.

Jaehyun found himself watching her, the quiet intensity in the way she worked. Mora was a lot of things—cold, ruthless, frustratingly good at getting under his skin—but lazy wasn't one of them. Even now, in the middle of a chaotic airport, she was locked into her screen, probably closing some high-stakes deal or tearing apart someone's business proposal.

She was always working. Always.

Jaehyun's gaze lingered, tracing the curve of her lips as she sipped her coffee, the effortless way she balanced elegance and sharp focus. She looked beautiful.

Wait.

Did he just think she looked—?

"Are you done staring at me like a creep?" Mora's voice cut through the moment like a knife.

Jaehyun blinked, quickly looking away, warmth creeping up his neck. "You're so full of yourself," he muttered, taking an exaggerated sip of his coffee to distract from the fact that, yeah, she totally caught him.
