If Kingston was describing his launch party in one word it would be lively.
In the past his launches were filled to the brim with famous faces, and although it was good for publicity, it tainted his image. This time around, his party was exclusively for the sophisticated: Artists and art critics, entrepreneurs and collectors, aristocrats and the like. It was well and truly lively - A word that Kingston had found a new love for. This was not only due to the nature of the event, but the nature of his new collection too. Rebirth: a collection that represents how at any age you can still make great changes in your life. Each painting represented how he had experienced rebirths in his life like for instance his brain - Which he felt had sharpened after spending retreats in the mountain and changing his diet. He represented this rebirth with a painting of a man whose head was split open by a jagged lightbulb. Another rebirth he felt was through his sex life. At the age of 53, he thought that he would have to accept the fact that his dick would never work as well as it did in his 20s. But once again, through diet alongside exercise, he realised he could still possess that youthful vigour (even if only in short bursts). The painting that encapsulated all of this was a picture of a plant that looked like a penis. It stood tall whilst surrounded by plants that were decaying or wilting away.
"I absolutely love this piece of work!" said one of the collectors to Kingston. "Do you have a price? I'm willing to pay 150,000."
Kingston's ears tingled at the sound of money, but he kept his composure nonetheless.
"Bidding can wait. Let's just enjoy the collection and I'll keep you in mind for later."
The collector winked
"You're right Kingston my bad. I'll keep looking around...Or maybe I won't..."
Kingston didn't know what his customer was on about until he saw the two guests that entered. One of them was a man with whippy blonde hair and a tan too strong. But to his left, was a sleek, tall, copper skinned woman with frizzy hair.
Jordan nudged Daniel when she saw the artist.
"What?...Oh - If it isn't the king of art himself! Kingston Abebe! It's nice to see you again brother!"
Daniel gave him a bro hug which Kingston reciprocated. Begrudgingly.
"Daniel. Nice to see you again," said Kingston. "And I see you've brought a friend."
Jordan smiled.
"Hi, I'm Delphine Dembele. It's a pleasure to meet you both."
"Likewise," Kingston said. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you model for um, Franklin a few days ago?"
"Yes I did. I was the last person."
"Wow!" the collector chimed in. "That was you? You looked absolutely stunning darling and the way you walked too - You're a natural!"
"Thank you, that means a lot. But enough about me," said Delphine. "I want to see this collection of yours."
"Follow me. I'll give you a personal tour."
"Yay!"
"Woo!"
The mansion had a simple design. It was smart but elegant, futuristic but not too progressive. Kingston explained his theme of rebirth for the hundredth time but that wasn't the most important thing to Kingston - It was her eyes, and how they laid on his paintings. You could see them overflow with energy, scanning every detail. Delphine Dembele appreciated good art and Kingston knew that much.
