Peckham, London

"Why am I always so wet?" Adam asked

Sitting in DJ's bedroom was his high school friend Adam, and indeed he was truly wet.

"It's meant to represent loneliness!" DJ said, grinning from ear to ear.

He was a handsome guy, chiselled faced, with heterochromia - One eye being brown and the other blue. On the other hand, his friend didn't look as handsome but he always looked clean - A fresh fade accompanied by smart, simplistic clothing. If only he wasn't wet, then his appearance would shine more, but Adam felt bound to help DJ, since everything that had happened.

"How?" Adam asked. "You're not making sense."

DJ played with his afro whilst in thought.

"It's to show that loneliness...Sometimes loneliness can feel like drowning, so that's why I made your character wet all the time - You get me?"

"...I get you."

"You're an actor anyway so you have to be prepared to do crazy shit like this. In fact, this is tame compared to some of the things you'll have to do."

"Yeah."

Adam knew he had a point, but he didn't like the fact that he was right. His eyes scanned the box of a room, examining the shelves filled with shoe boxes and the closet with his filmmaking equipment. The posters he used to have were gone.

"Where did all your posters go?" he asked.

"I threw them away..." DJ replied. "I couldn't look at them after the incident."

"Oh, my bad bro-"

"No, you're good bruv."

Adam looked at the empty walls again.

"That Beckham poster was sick though..."

"It was." DJ said. "But we have more important things to think about, like this short film we have to finish."

Although they had already made a short film this month, DJ didn't want to take any chances. Frankie Flammia, one of the most famous fashion designers in the world, had made a competition to recruit a fresh-faced filmmaking crew to shoot his documentary. It was a chance of a lifetime! All anyone had to do was to send in their pieces of work by the end of the month and a winner would be decided accordingly. Opportunities that would arise from that: the fame, the recognition, the money - it would completely change his life - And Adam's of course.

There was no way that DJ was slipping up again. His mind was made up. He was going to work with Frankie Flammia. Whatever it took.

September 1, 2023

Peckham had returned to its default weather settings: grey clouds and rain. Normally this weather would have DJ mentally escaping to the Caribbean beaches, but fortunately there was another passage - FIFA. The year's version was coming to an end so it was only right for him to get the most out of all the money he spent. That was the plan anyway. But DJ's mind couldn't focus on defending or changing playstyles. There was only one thing he could think of.

"You've been slacking bro!" Adam said as his team scored another goal.

The score was now 3 - 1 in his favour.

"Yeah, I know. I've got a lot on my mind, bruv."

"Like what? Oh, yeah...The competition - They should have replied by now. They said the end of the month, right?"

"Yep..."

If he was being honest, Adam wasn't at first convinced by DJ's passion for filmmaking - Perhaps he was still stuck in the past? Ever since they were young he'd known his friend as a football wizard. Someone who had such creative flair with the ball that he could only be described as a genius. That was him. That was DJ. But now the road was cut off and Adam felt the urge to be by his friend's side even more. This filmmaking thing...It had to work.

DJ heard his phone buzz and pulled it out from his jean pocket.

"That might be the notification from Franklin..." he said. "Or a text message from EE. What do you think?"

"Just open it!"

"Really? DJ asked. "Because I was trying to do this dopamine detox- Alright, I'll open it."

They both read the message:
