~ Chapter Six ~

y the time, Hayley had finished doing my make-up and finally convinced me to get into that damned dress, it was well past lunch time and my stomach was growling at me ferociously. I heard Hayley’s give out a loud rumble as she finished applying a rather delicate shade of blue eye shadow to my eyes and I looked up at her.
“Time for some lunch, I think Hayley. You’ve managed to get my eye make-up done, can’t the other make-up wait until we’ve at least had some food?” I pleaded with her as I made a puppy-dog face at her and she pouted.
“But we’re not even finished yet! It’ll take me forever to find the right foundation for your skin tone because you’re so damn pale!” she began but I stopped her and pointed to the bottle sitting beside the blue eye shadow that she had just put on my eyes. She gasped when she realised that it was the right one before pouting.
“Fine, but after lunch I’m going finish your make-up and then get ready myself. It won’t take me as long as it will take you to get ready,” she said as she put down the eye shadow brush and allowed me to get up.
I went to glance in the mirror, but I scowled when I found it covered up with a single towel. I looked over to her and she laughed at me before heading downstairs.
We ate lunch as quickly as we could because of the time. We had three hours in which to get ready and Hayley and I ate lunch within the first hour. It took Hayley another hour to get me to sit still long enough to finish my damn make over and it took Hayley the rest of the time to finally get into her knee length baby pink dress and fix up her hair and make-up. We’d decided on leaving my curls exactly as they were and only giving them a quickly brush through to rid it of as many knots as possible.
Finally, when Ryan rang the doorbell at quarter to eight, we were all ready and waiting. I opened the door when Ryan rang the doorbell and nearly forgot to breathe when I saw how good Ryan actually looked. He was dressed in a pair of nice black slacks and a crisp white shirt, unbuttoned at the top. It hugged his torso nicely, emphasizing the muscles I knew he had. He smiled at me and I smiled back, earning me a scowl from Hayley before she pushed me out the door. She locked it up for me, seeing as though she was the one with the purse and I wasn’t and turned around to face both me and Ryan.
“Can we please go now?” she asked and I laughed at her. She really was desperate to get to this party. So, when we were sitting in the back seat of Ryan’s car, I asked her.
“Why are so desperate to get to Erin’s party, Hails?” I asked her and she turned her eyes from the road outside the passenger window and looked at me.
“No reason. It’s just that . . . well . . .” she began and I looked at her expectantly. But when she didn’t reply, Ryan answered for her.
“She told Devon he had to be there because she had something to show him to prove that he’s being the biggest dick head ever,” Ryan said and I stared at Hayley wide-eyed. She looked around the car, looked anywhere but at me as I spoke to her.
“And let me guess. That something you have to show Devon is me, right?” I asked her, desperately trying to keep my voice as even as possible.
When she nodded her head, I scowled at her and looked away from her, desperately trying to think of a way to get out of actually arriving at Erin’s house. But before I could think of anything whatsoever, Ryan had pulled up in her driveway and was opening my door for me. I got out and walked forward enough to allow Hayley room to get out as well, before I latched my arm onto hers and began walking inside.
