Jungkook felt a strong urge to comfort his husband by reaching out to take his hand, but he hesitated, uncertain of how his partner was truly feeling. He too was upset about the poster and the implications of their public image, but the chaotic nature of their fandom felt beyond their control, leaving him feeling both ridiculous and helpless.
Moments later, the car came to a halt in front of their destination. The bodyguard was quick to open the door for Jungkook, standing ready to escort him out, while Namjoon opened his own door without hesitation.
Jungkook turned to wait for his husband but felt pressured by his bodyguard to move along. However, he couldn't help but glance back at Namjoon, who was stretching out his hand in a silent plea for connection, desperately trying to bridge the distance created by the encroaching crowd.
“Namjoon… Namjoon…” Jungkook called out, his voice filled with urgency as he reached out, but the thrumming mass of fans continued to surge forward, creating an unyielding barrier between them.
Namjoon, too, was stretching his arm toward him, yearning to close the divide, yet their attempts remained fruitless amidst the overwhelming sea of eager admirers.
Jungkook panicked and began to scream when he lost sight of his husband's face in the crowd, his heart racing like a drum.
"Namjoon… Namjoon, where are you? Namjoon…" He cried out, desperation coating his voice as he spun around, scanning the sea of unfamiliar faces.
Suddenly, Jungkook opened his eyes wide, jolted from his nightmare as he fell back into reality. It was just a dream, but the emotions felt all too real.
"Fucking shit, it was a dream in the morning," he muttered to himself, drenched in sweat and trembling from the remnants of his panic. He looked around the dimly lit room, his heart still racing, then held his head in his hands, trying to shake off the lingering fear.
"Oh God," he whispered, the anxiety tightening his chest as he pondered his current situation. He wondered where Namjoon was at that moment, feeling acutely aware of the emptiness beside him in their bed, a stark reminder of his husband's absence.
'When did I fall asleep?' he asked himself, piecing together the fragments of the last night that loomed heavy in his mind. He began to recall the argument that had spiraled between them, leading to this unsettling morning.
Namjoon had dragged him out to the balcony under the dim light of the stars, gently requesting him to sit with him again.
The cool breeze brushed against their skin while they talked, and Namjoon patiently waited, allowing Jungkook the time to gather his thoughts. As Jungkook slowly calmed down, he found himself spilling his heart out, sharing his insecurities about their relationship and the future of their family.
Most importantly, he expressed his deep desire to hold Namjoon's hand in public, without any fear or hesitation. The words hung in the air, raw and vulnerable.
Namjoon, who had listened intently, felt a mixture of thrill and surprise at the revelations. His heart swelled with affection as he paid careful attention to every word, showing Jungkook he was wholly present.
It wasn't long before Jungkook, lulled by Nam's gentle touch as he played with his hair, gradually drifted off to sleep, resting his head comfortably on his husband’s lap.
However, Nam was left awake for a while, contemplating the weight of unspoken thoughts that circled his mind. 'What if they reveal their relationship to the world? Would they really support us?' His heart felt heavy with uncertainty as he battled doubts and fears in the quiet of the night.
