As the morning sun rose higher in the sky, the group gathered around a small fire in the center of Frostveil, where the scent of grilled meat mingled with the fresh, crisp air. The camaraderie was palpable, but an air of curiosity surrounded Max as he joined Andres and the others.
“Alright, Max, now that you’re officially with us, let’s talk about your abilities,” Andres suggested, leaning forward with interest. “What skills do you have?”
Max took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. “Well, let’s go over what I can do now that I’m at level 24. I’m not just a Paladin in name. I’ve trained hard, and I have a few tricks up my sleeve.”
“Like what?” Ashton asked, his eyes narrowing in anticipation.
“Absolutely! I want to know more about your abilities,” Andres encouraged, leaning in. Haruki and Ashton perked up, their interest piqued.
Max took a deep breath, adjusting the straps of her armor. “Alright, here goes. My abilities are primarily earth-based, which means I can deal damage and also protect us in tough situations.”
“First, I have my Stone Fist.” Max demonstrated by hardening her fist, causing a faint shimmering light to radiate from it. “It allows me to deliver a heavy punch that can knock enemies back slightly. It also temporarily increases my defense, which can be useful when I’m in a tight spot.”
“Nice! Sounds like a great way to take someone by surprise,” Haruki remarked, nodding approvingly. “What’s next?”
Max continued, feeling a sense of pride as she talked about her abilities. “Then there's my Earthen Armor. I can surround myself with a thin layer of rock, which helps reduce incoming damage for a short period.” She flexed, demonstrating how the earth seemed to momentarily cling to her, reinforcing her form.
“Nice! You’re not just a frontliner; you have some defensive abilities too,” Ashton remarked, nodding approvingly.
“Exactly,” Max replied, smiling. “At level ten, I gained the Earthquake Stomp skill. It allows me to stomp the ground with great force, sending shockwaves that damage and stun nearby enemies.” She mimicked the motion, and the group could almost feel the tremors underfoot.
“Sounds powerful,” Andres said, impressed. “A solid crowd control move!”
“Yeah, and I also have the Rock Wall skill,” Max added. “I can summon a barrier of rock to shield myself or an ally from attacks. It absorbs a lot of damage and can block ranged attacks, reducing magic damage too.” She pointed towards a nearby stone wall as if envisioning how it would shield her allies in battle.
“Damn, that’s useful!” Haruki replied, grinning. “I can see that being a game-changer when we’re outnumbered.”
“Exactly!” Max grinned. “Then, at level 20, I gained Boulder Crash. I can summon a massive boulder and slam it down on enemies, dealing heavy damage in an area and reducing their defense for ten seconds while knocking them back. It’s great for breaking through defenses.”
“That’s incredibly versatile,” Haruki said. “I can see how that would keep us safe during fights.”
“Wow,” Ashton breathed, “that sounds devastating!”
Max’s excitement was palpable as she spoke about his final skill. “And lastly, I have a Tremor Shield. It creates a shield of vibrating earth around me, reducing incoming damage for ten seconds and reflecting the damage back to melee attackers. It’s perfect for when I’m surrounded.”
“Now that’s what I call a solid defense!” Andres said, his eyes wide with admiration. “With your skills, you can protect us and deal damage. That’s awesome!”
