As the bonfire roared to life, the usual buzz of activity filled the air. The scent of Frypan's stew mixed with the crackling firewood, and the Gladers gathered around, chatting, laughing, and relaxing as best they could. You helped Frypan serve food, even though it wasn't your usual responsibility. You were always happy to lend a hand, especially tonight. The bonfire was an important tradition for the arrival of every new Greenie, and you made sure to do your part.

Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed Newt sitting with the new Greenie by the fire. He was pointing toward the group of Runners, explaining something to him. The new Greenie, still trying to adjust to everything, seemed captivated by Newt's words.

You then overheard him asking Newt, his voice low but curious, "Who's that girl? The one over there, serving food. Is she the only girl or something?"

Newt glanced over at you with a slight smile, then turned back to the Greenie. "Y/N? Yeah, she's the only one. Been here a while now, though."

You gave them a smile and decided to approach them, "Hey," you said, keeping your tone friendly.

"Hey. Y/N, right?" He spoke.

"Yeah, still haven't remembered your name, huh?" you chuckled softly, and he nodded.

Newt just watched, a faint smile on his lips, though there was something almost protective in the way he looked at you.

"Don't worry, mate," Newt added with a slight chuckle, "You'll get it soon enough. It's just a lot to take in on your first day."

Before anything else could be said, a voice rang out in the glade, "Y/N! We need you!"

You immediately stood up, looking over to see a Glader, Billy, on the ground holding his head with Gally stood over him. You shook your head "Guess Gally's done it again," you said, looking at Newt and the new Greenie with a playful grin.

The Greenie raised an eyebrow curiously, "Again?"

You smiled, "Gally's got a bit of a... temper... when it comes to them playing around."

Newt chuckled, "Yeah, you don't wanna get on the wrong side of him."

"I'm gonna go patch Billy up. I'll catch you both later," you giggled.

After patching up Billy, you returned to the main clearing. As you approached, you could hear the sounds of laughter and cheers filling the air. When you stepped into view, you immediately noticed the group of Gladers gathered around the fire, clapping and shouting in excitement.

"THOMAS! THOMAS! THOMAS!" they chanted, their voices rising in a rhythmic cheer.

You blinked, a small grin tugging at your lips as you watched the new Greenie, Thomas, standing at the center, a shy but proud smile on his face. It didn't take long for you to realize what had happened. He'd finally remembered his name.

You could see the shift in him—he no longer looked so lost or confused, the confidence in his posture giving him a different air entirely.

The next day you were walking across the Glade, when you heard frantic shouting from not too far away.

"Help! Somebody, help!" Thomas's voice rang out in distress.

Your eyes snapped towards him, and your heart raced as you saw him running for his life. Ben was right on his heels, a wild look in his eyes, his hand gripping a pocket knife tightly. It was clear he was chasing Thomas with more than just anger; it was pure, uncontrolled rage.

You didn't hesitate, you ran towards them trying to put yourself between the two, "Ben! Stop!" you called out.

But Ben's focus was entirely on Thomas, and he didn't slow down. His movements were fast and frantic, like a wild animal hunting its prey.
