Dawn excused herself with a soft squeeze of Erevin's hand before slipping away toward the washroom. She felt a subtle flutter in her chest, the kind that made her feel both nervous and exhilarated at once.
In the washroom, Dawn stood before the mirror, her reflection staring back at her with wide, excited eyes. She tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear and leaned closer to inspect her face. Okay, deep breaths. Everything's going fine. He's so sweet... and thoughtful... and-stop blushing!
She pulled out a lipstick from her small purse. Carefully, she re-applied it, smoothing the soft color over her lips. Then, she adjusted her hair, brushing her fingers through the strands to perfect her bun.
Dawn straightened, took a deep breath. "You've got this, you're doing fine, Dawn. Just... be yourself." she murmured to her reflection.
"Are you alright, sweetie?"
Dawn turned to see a woman in her twenties, her expression kind and genuinely curious. The woman had a poised air about her, with a soft elegance that made her seem effortlessly approachable.
"Oh, uh... yeah," Dawn replied quickly, a nervous laugh escaping her lips. "I'm just-it's my first date with this guy, and I guess I'm a little... you know, jittery."
The woman chuckled softly and leaned against the counter. "First date, huh? Those are the best. Who's the lucky guy?"
Dawn hesitated, then smiled shyly. "His name's Erevin. He's... amazing. Quiet, thoughtful, maybe a little awkward, but I like that about him. It's just... he has been really quiet this whole time" She bit her lip.
The woman's expression softened. "Sounds like you really care about him. And from the way you're talking, I'm pretty sure he feels the same about you."
"Do you think so?" Dawn asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Absolutely," the woman said confidently. "Just relax and enjoy the moment. Trust me, you'll both remember
this night for a long time."
Dawn smiled, feeling a little more reassured. "Thanks... uh..."
"Chloe," the woman said, extending her hand. "I'm Chloe. My husband and I run this cafe."
"Oh! I am Dawn." Dawn said, shaking her hand. "That's so cool. The place is beautiful."
"Thank you," Chloe said, her smile widening. "Now, tell me, what's got you so nervous? He doesn't seem like the scary type."
Dawn hesitated for a moment but then spilled everything-the way Erevin listened to her during the movie, his thoughtful words, and how she just wanted everything to be perfect. Chloe listened intently, nodding at all the right moments.
"First dates are about connection," Chloe said gently when Dawn finished. "Not perfection. And trust me, from the way you're glowing while talking about him, I think you're doing just fine."
Dawn smiled sheepishly, her shoulders relaxing a little. "Thanks. That really helps."
Chloe leaned closer, a playful sparkle in her eyes. "Here's a little tip. Order the couple's special dessert-it's perfect for sharing. And when it arrives, feed him the first bite."
Dawn's cheeks flushed a deep pink. "Feed him?"
Chloe laughed softly. "Trust me. It's cute, and it works."
Still blushing, Dawn nodded. "Okay. Thanks, Chloe."
"Anytime," Chloe said with a wink as she turned to leave.
