The changing room breathed quiet, its tiled walls echoing only the faint hum of the air vents. Lockers stood in rigid rows, their metal doors dull beneath the fluorescent glow. Dawn sat on the bench, her bag slouched at her feet. She loosened the buttons of her shirt, fingers trembling slightly after the day's long pull. The silence pressed in, heavy and private—no chatter, no footsteps, just her and the sound of fabric sliding from her shoulders.

That stillness broke with the groan of the door hinges.

She froze, half-turned toward the noise. Ryder stepped inside, his presence dragging the air colder, sharper. He shouldn't have been there—no boy should have been there—and yet he walked with the unbothered calm of someone who believed rules bent for him. His eyes found her, and his smile coiled cruel at the edges.

Dawn's breath hitched. Her shirt hung loose, half-open, and her instinct was to clutch it closed, but Ryder moved faster. He reached for her, fingers brushing bare skin where they had no right to be.

"Relax," he drawled, voice low, taunting. "No one's here."

Ryder shoved her face-first into the locker door. His forearm pinned her throat, cutting off her startled gasp. "Make a sound," he hissed, breath hot and sour against her ear, "and I swear I'll tell everyone you begged me to meet you here. Who'd believe *you* over me?" His free hand slid roughly under her untucked tunic, fingers digging into the soft flesh above her bra strap.

Dawn choked back a sob, tears blurring her vision. "Please... Ryder, don't—" Her plea dissolved into a whimper as his palm clamped over her mouth, muffling her cries. He laughed softly, grinding his hips against her. "Quiet now. You know you want this." His other hand slipped beneath her bra, calloused fingers twisting her nipple until she arched against the locker in pain.

Ryder's mouth trailed wet, bruising kisses down her neck as his hand abandoned her breast. Dawn flinched as cold fingers slid under her waistband, popping the button of her trousers. "See?" he growled, rubbing roughly over the thin fabric of her underwear. "Soaked. Bet you've dreamed about this." His fingertip pressed against her through the damp cotton, circling with cruel precision.

The changing room door crashed open. Amelia stood frozen for a heartbeat, hockey stick gripped white-knuckled. Ryder jerked backward, releasing Dawn so abruptly she crumpled against the lockers. Amelia lunged, her palm cracking hard across Ryder's cheek. "Get out!" she snarled, shoving him toward the exit. "Now!" He staggered, eyes wide with fury, but fled without a word.

Dawn slid down to the cold tile floor, trembling violently. Her tunic hung open, trousers unbuttoned, tears streaking her cheeks. Amelia knelt beside her, gently pulling Dawn's clothes together. "Shhh... he's gone," she murmured, wrapping an arm around Dawn's shaking shoulders. Dawn buried her face in Amelia's neck, choking on ragged sobs.

Amelia's voice dropped to a low, urgent whisper. "Listen to me," she said, gripping Dawn's chin firmly. "You *never* speak of this. Not to teachers. Not to friends. Not even to your shadow." Her eyes darted toward the door, sharp as shattered glass. "Ryder Vale isn't some random creep. His family owns this town. They own the police. They own the silence." Dawn whimpered, shrinking back. Amelia leaned closer, breath ghosting over Dawn's ear. "Nobody crosses a Vale. They break bones. They bury secrets. And they'd make *you* look like the liar before breakfast."

Dawn's trembling fingers clutched Amelia's sleeve. "But... he..." The words dissolved into hiccuping sobs. Amelia pulled Dawn's tunic tighter around her, buttoning it with brisk, efficient movements. "He's untouchable," she cut in, tone flat and final. "You scream? They'll say you lured him. You fight? They'll say you attacked *him*. Your tears?" Amelia's thumb wiped one away, her expression unyielding. "Proof you're hysterical. This ends here. Right now."

Amelia stopped for a moment looked into dawn's eyes and said "Nobody messes with them, Vale is a name to fear"
