We were having fun, just you and me,
Your smile brought a flutter, a spark, a glee.
But then you moved, with a casual plea,
"My friend is alone," you said softly. You sat behind her, and it became clear,
Your excuse was fake; your truth was near.
It saddened me, I was caught unaware,
Hoping for love that just wasn't there. In my heart, I bear the blame,
For loving you who didn't feel the same.
In the afternoon, we practiced away,
And for a moment, joy held sway. You kept on glancing, stealing a peek,
I thought it was me, my heart grew weak.
But then my camera fell in your hands,
I thought we'd all play, but new were your plans. You pointed the lens, not at the crowd,
But at her smile, as if you vowed.
You grinned at her as she grinned back,
I felt my heart start to crack.I’m jealous, yes, but what can I do?
I’ll never be her, never be for you.
