Before things could escalate further, the sound of the storage room door hissing open cut through the tension like a knife. Both Red and Lime froze."What's going on here?" Blue's voice rang out, suspicious and sharp. They stood in the doorway, arms crossed, their visor glinting ominously in the dim light.
Lime quickly stood up, brushing themselves off as though nothing had happened. "Nothing, Blue," they said smoothly, the smirk wiped from their face but not the mischief in their tone. "Just... teamwork. You know how it is."
Blue narrowed their eyes. "You'd better not be slacking on your tasks. The reactor's about to blow if someone doesn't fix it."
Red tried to steady his breathing, his mind spinning. Lime gave him one last glance—a knowing look—and left the room without another word. Blue lingered, scrutinizing Red for a moment before muttering something about keeping an eye on them and following Lime out.
Now alone, Red leaned back against the wall, letting out a shaky breath. But something Lime had said lingered in his mind: "After all this time?" What did they mean by that? Memories Red had buried long ago started clawing their way to the surface—flashes of a life before the crew, before the ship, and before this endless cycle of tasks and accusations.
A fragment of a memory surfaced: the sound of laughter, a field of stars, and someone whispering his name—his real name. Not "Red." Something else. Something important.
Red clenched his fists. He had always felt out of place among the crew, like a piece of a puzzle that didn't quite fit. Now, the feeling was stronger than ever. There were questions he had to answer, and the only way to do that was to dig into his past—a past he had spent years trying to forget.
Before Red could regain his composure, another memory crashed into him—a hazy image of Yellow, their parent figure, standing tall against a crowd of crewmates, protecting him. And then Orange... that cold, calculated betrayal.
It all started to make sense now. Lime's words, the way people looked at him, the whispers that never stopped even after all this time. They didn't see "Red" anymore. They saw it. The descendant of the IMPOSTER.
He thought he had moved on. He thought he had accepted his fate as the ship's pariah. But now, it felt like the universe was mocking him. The legacy of the IMPOSTER hung over him like a storm cloud, no matter how many tasks he completed or emergencies he helped solve.
As Red stared at the empty storage room, a low static filled his ears, and his vision blurred. It was the same static he always heard in the dead of night, in the silence of space.
"You're lost, Alpha..."
The voice was faint but unmistakable. It wasn't real. It couldn't be. But it sent chills down his spine. He stumbled out of the room, heading down the dimly lit corridors, ignoring the annoyed shouts from Blue and the others as alarms blared overhead.
He needed to get to the cockpit. Something was pulling him there—something primal, instinctual.
As he entered the cockpit, the massive viewing window displayed the endless void of stars. Red felt a strange pull, his gaze locking onto a faint, flickering star in the distance. His heart pounded.
Lime's voice echoed in his mind: "After all those years? After all this time?"
Red clenched his fists. If Lime knew something about his past, about the truth of who—or what—he was, then he needed answers. No more running.
A message scrawled itself across the navigation panel, the words glowing ominously:
"You're.Lost.Alpha..."
The ship's lights flickered. A chill settled over Red as he whispered to himself, "If I'm lost... then it's time to find my way."
And so, as chaos erupted among the crew, Red made his decision. This was no longer just about survival. It was about finding the truth—about Yellow, about the IMPOSTER, and about himself.
His quest was only beginning.
