The ship began to shake as it entered the gravity field of the uncharted sector. Red's hands flew over the controls, trying to maintain stability. He could feel the tension mounting, the atmosphere inside the cockpit thickening as Lime sat just inches away from him, their presence almost overwhelming.
Lime's eyes never left Red, their gaze dark and predatory. "You're doing great, Captain," they said, their voice soft, almost too soft. "But you know, you really should loosen up a bit. You don't want to break under pressure, do you?"
Red didn't respond immediately, but as the ship lurched again, he couldn't help but let out a strained breath. He adjusted the ship's trajectory, but then, without warning, Lime's hand slid down to his leg, their fingers grazing the inside of his thigh again, in a slow, deliberate motion.
Red's breath caught in his throat. His heart skipped, but he forced himself to stay focused. He couldn't let Lime distract him now, not when they were so close to uncovering the truth. But the touch, the heat from Lime's fingers, was making it harder and harder to concentrate. It was as if every nerve in his body was suddenly alive, tingling with an unbearable, forbidden excitement.
Lime chuckled softly, their fingers tracing the curve of his leg, their touch light but electric. "Relax, Red. We've got all the time in the world." They leaned in, their lips dangerously close to his ear. "And trust me, you don't want to keep resisting me. I can tell you're not as unaffected as you pretend to be."
Red clenched his jaw, forcing himself to push Lime's hand away, but it was like fighting an instinct he didn't fully understand. Every time he moved away, Lime came closer, pressing into him, their body heat radiating in the confined space of the cockpit.
"You can't focus on the mission if you keep fighting me," Lime murmured, their voice a sultry purr. "All this tension... it's just begging for release, don't you think?" They leaned in even closer, their lips brushing against Red's ear as they spoke. "I can help you with that. You don't have to do this alone."
Red was burning. His body was responding to Lime's closeness, to the heat of their breath, to the irresistible pull of their touch. His mind was screaming at him to focus, to keep control, but everything in him—his body, his instincts—was betraying him.
He swore under his breath, eyes darting to the readout. The uncharted sector was just ahead. The unknown. The answers he needed. He had to pull himself together.
"This isn't about us," Red said, his voice tight as he tried to ignore the heat building between them. "This is about what we find out there."
Lime smirked, clearly enjoying the inner struggle they were causing. "Sure, Red. But you know... you can't just ignore the chemistry between us. Not anymore. You're getting too close to me. To us." They leaned back, eyes flashing with that mischievous glint. "But hey, I'll let you focus. For now."
Red couldn't bring himself to meet Lime's gaze. He could feel the weight of their words, but the proximity of their body, the teasing touch, made everything inside him feel like it was spiraling out of control. The ship rocked again as it entered the gravitational pull of the unknown sector.
"Warning. Unknown energy source detected," the ship's system warned.
Red's focus snapped back. "Damn it," he muttered, glancing at the control panel. They were close, too close. Whatever was out there, it was powerful, and they were about to find out what it was. He quickly adjusted the ship's course to avoid the intense energy signatures.
"Get ready," Red said, trying to shift his thoughts away from the growing tension in his chest. "We need to stay sharp."
Lime didn't seem to notice the sudden change in atmosphere. Instead, they relaxed in their seat, smirking as they watched Red struggle to regain control. "Sharp, huh? Well, I don't know, Red. I think I'm the one who's been keeping you sharp." They crossed their arms and leaned back, their gaze never leaving him.
Red shot Lime a glance, annoyed but unable to deny the underlying thrill their words caused. His grip tightened on the controls as they neared the energy source. The unknown sector was coming up fast, and with it, whatever secrets had been waiting for years. His future—and his past—were about to collide.
But just as they passed the last asteroid and came into clear view of the source, the ship suddenly bucked hard, sending both of them sliding into each other. Lime let out a soft laugh, and before Red could pull away, Lime's lips brushed against his ear once again. "Careful there, Red. You wouldn't want to get lost in all this, would you?"
Red's heart pounded, his thoughts scattered. They were so close now, so close to answers... but Lime's teasing, their presence so near, was making it nearly impossible to think straight.
"We're here," Red said, voice low, as he steered the ship toward a massive, glowing anomaly in the center of the sector. A massive structure floated in space, shimmering with an eerie, almost hypnotic light.
Lime didn't say anything for a long moment, their gaze fixed on the structure. Then, finally, they spoke, their voice low and full of anticipation. "It's beautiful, isn't it? And I'm sure it's only the beginning of what's to come."
Red swallowed hard, eyes narrowing on the glowing anomaly. He knew this was just the start. But something told him that their journey was about to get a whole lot more complicated—and a whole lot more dangerous—especially with Lime at his side.
