Red sat in the cock-pit, his fingers hovering over the controls and his member. The countdown to the uncharted sector had already begun, but his mind kept drifting back to Lime's words. The truth. The IMPOSTER. Yellow. It was all tangled up in his past, and now he was finally going to face it.But just as he was about to punch in the final coordinates, the soft sound of footsteps behind him made him freeze.
"You know," Lime's voice came from the doorway, laced with that unmistakable teasing tone, "I'm impressed you're still so serious. Thought for sure you'd be getting cold feet by now."
Red didn't turn around, keeping his eyes fixed on the controls. "I'm not nervous."
Lime leaned casually against the wall, their arms crossed. "Not even a little? I mean, you're about to dive headfirst into a mystery that could change everything you know about yourself." They stepped closer, their voice lowering, soft and smooth. "But hey, I guess that's why you look so serious. Trying to be the hero, huh?"
Red could feel Lime's gaze burning into the back of his neck, and a wave of heat rushed to his face. He kept his eyes straight ahead, trying to ignore the fluttering feeling in his chest. "I'm not trying to be anything. I just need answers."
Lime chuckled, their tone playful. "Sure, Red. Answers. But I think we both know you're looking for something more. Something... real." They circled around him, their movements slow, deliberate. "What if what you find out there isn't just the truth about your past? What if it's about who you really are... deep down?" Lime leaned in closer, their breath warm against Red's ear. "What if it's about us?"
Red's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't think straight with Lime this close. "Stop," he muttered, his voice a little shaky. "This isn't the time."
"Oh, but it is the time, Red," Lime purred, their tone dripping with mock sincerity. "You're not just running from your past, are you? You're running from what I can show you. And you know it."
Red clenched his fists, trying to focus. He needed to keep it together. But every word that left Lime's lips seemed to pull him further into a spiral of confusion. Was this just a game to Lime? Or was there something more?
Before Red could say anything more, Lime's fingers brushed against his arm in a lingering touch. "You're so tense, Red. I thought you'd be more relaxed after making this big decision. But if you want... I can help you with that." Lime's voice dropped even lower, more intimate. "You could let me show you how to let go."
Red shook his head, his breath catching in his throat. "I—stop playing games, Lime. This is serious."
Lime stood back, holding their hands up in mock surrender, but the smile never left their face. "Fine, fine. I'll keep it professional. But I can't promise I won't tease you along the way."
Red let out a breath, trying to regain his focus. "Just... sit down. We're heading out."
Lime grinned, settling into the seat next to him. "As you wish, Captain." Their voice was lighter now, but still tinged with that mischievous edge. "I'm just here to make sure you don't get too lonely on this journey. After all, someone has to keep an eye on you."
As the ship's engines roared to life, Red steeled himself for the unknown. But with Lime sitting beside him, their flirtatious banter hanging in the air, the journey to the uncharted sector felt like it was going to be a lot more complicated than he had anticipated.
