Red's footsteps echoed through the silent halls of the ship. The air felt thick with uncertainty as he walked toward Lime's quarters. He wasn't sure why, but something about this moment felt like a tipping point. A decision that would change everything. When he reached Lime's door, he hesitated for a brief second, staring at the flashing status light. The door slid open with a soft hiss. Inside, Lime was sitting at their desk, tinkering with a set of tools, their back to Red.
For a long moment, neither of them spoke. Red could feel the tension in the air, an unspoken understanding that something had shifted between them.
Lime, without turning around, said, "You're here. Finally decided to stop avoiding me, huh?"
Red didn't flinch, but he couldn't help the knot that tightened in his chest. "I need answers."
Lime turned around slowly, their eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and something deeper, something that made Red's heart race. "Answers?" Lime repeated, the word almost playful. "You're asking the wrong person, Red. You should've asked them a long time ago."
Red clenched his fists, frustration building. "I'm not here to play games. I know you know something about my past—about Yellow and the IMPOSTER. You've been hiding it from me, and I won't stand for it any longer."
Lime's smile faltered for just a second, but it was enough. Red saw it, the flicker of something genuine. "You're right. I do know something," Lime said, their tone suddenly serious. "But be careful what you're asking for. The truth isn't as simple as you think."
Red took a step forward, determined. "I don't care how complicated it is. I need to know."
Lime stood up, walking over to a small panel embedded in the wall. They pressed a few buttons, and a holographic display appeared between them. The screen flickered, showing a map of uncharted space. The same sector Red had seen earlier.
"Why do you think that sector's been off-limits?" Lime asked, eyes narrowed. "Because there's something out there, Red. Something you need to see."
Red stared at the map, a chill running down his spine. "What is it?"
Lime hesitated, their gaze flickering to the floor. "That's where Yellow was last seen... before everything changed. That's where they... disappeared."
Red's heart skipped a beat. His hands shook as he looked at the coordinates on the display. "You mean... my parent figure is still out there?"
Lime nodded, slowly. "Not in the way you think. But there are answers out there. If you want to know who you really are... you have to go there. And you're not the only one looking for it, Red. The people who know your bloodline... they'll be waiting. So, before you decide, you need to understand something: You're not just the descendant of the IMPOSTER. You're the key to something far bigger. Something the whole galaxy fears."
Red felt the weight of those words. His past, his lineage—it was more than he could have ever imagined. But it was also a terrifying realization. Could he handle what was waiting for him? What was he willing to risk to find the truth?
Lime studied him, their expression unreadable. "I know you're not afraid of the unknown. But this... it's going to change everything. So, what's it going to be, Red? Will you step into the darkness to uncover the truth?"
Red's heart pounded in his chest. Everything in him screamed that this was his destiny. To face the legacy of the IMPOSTER. To learn what had been kept hidden for so long.
"I'll go," Red said, his voice steady, despite the turmoil inside. "I'll go, and I'll find out what really happened. I'm not afraid of the truth."
Lime gave a faint smile, almost approving. "Then let's prepare for the journey. The path to that sector won't be easy. But you'll have more than just me watching your back. There are others who know your bloodline, Red. Others who've been waiting for you to make this choice."
Red turned toward the door, the weight of the decision settling heavily on his shoulders. But for the first time in years, he didn't feel lost. He had a purpose. And nothing was going to stop him from uncovering the truth.
Red and Lime made their way to the ship's control room, where they would set course for the uncharted sector. But as they approached, a new voice crackled over the intercom, cutting through the tension.
"Attention, crew. This is not a drill. We've received a signal from that sector. Unknown origins. It's not just a beacon. Someone is out there. And it's... it's a message. For Red."
Red froze, his eyes widening. He turned to Lime, but Lime's expression was unreadable.
"We have to go now," Lime said. "Before it's too late."
Without another word, they rushed toward the control room, the ship's engines humming to life. The journey had begun.
