1935⏰📍Brooklyn, New York
8:27 AMA warm light settled on Evelyn's face. Her eyes fluttered open as she rolled out of bed. She groaned while slowly lifting herself from the hard floor.
Evelyn rubbed the sleep from her eyes and began washing her face in the sink, shivering as the cold water touched her sleepy skin.
Evelyn walked to her father's room only to find an empty bed. "Dad?" She whispered as she closed the door. Evelyn walked through her house not finding her father anywhere which was strange because he usually never left this early.
Evelyn had one last place to look, the basement. "Dad?" Evelyn finally spotted him passed out on his desk, beer glasses all around him. Evelyn sighed heavily "Dad?" She shook him. "Dad!" She shook him again but he wouldn't budge. "Wake up." She ordered yet he wouldn't move.
Evelyn grew frustrated and grabbed bottle near him and poured it on him. Her father jumped up quickly screaming in agony from the cold liquid that had been thrown on him.
"Evelyn!" Winston angrily screamed. "What is wrong with you" he yelled. "What's wrong with me? I searched the whole house looking for you and I find you passed out drunk? What's wrong with you!" She screamed back.
"Evey" Winston lowered his voice knowing his daughter was only concerned. "You scared me." He sighed as he reached to hug his daughter. "I'm sorry evey, I was up working all night." Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Working on a beer bottle?"
Evelyn shook her head as she began walking upstairs with her father trailing behind. "Evelyn. Sweetheart, I'm sorry, I've just been stressed with work.. and there's some stuff we need to talk about." Evelyn turned around to look him in the eyes trying to read him.
"Maybe we should eat breakfast and talk.." Evelyn furrowed her eyebrows. Winston motioned her to the kitchen.
Winston stood at the stove, flipping pancakes. The kitchen is quiet, with only the sound of sizzling batter. Evelyn sat at the table, arms crossed, staring at her plate. Winston turned to see the very irritated look Evelyn wore.
"Pancakes are almost ready, Evey" He spoke softly. Evelyn didn't respond. Winston sighed and placed a stack of pancakes on her plate. Winston sat down across from her with his own plate.
The two began eating in silence. Evelyn picked at her food until she snapped. "Alright, Dad. What is it? What do you need to say?." She slammed her fork on the table.
