So in this some of the Gladers who aren't in TST are back i.e. Chuck and Gally!

They were running. Over the mountains and through forests. They were all beat up, bloody, and dirty. You had been watching them for days.
You knew the scorch like the back of your hand. You had been born here. You let out a psychotic laugh. You had once met a man with no skin on the back of his hand.

Your laughter ceased suddenly. It wasn't anything to laugh at. There was only a matter of time for you before you'd be completely past the gone. The only reason you'd made it this far with your sanity was because your mother had locked you away to try to keep the virus out. But once she was murdered (eaten alive) you had to go learn to fend for yourself.

You had spent the past year learning the ins and outs of the desert. The caves, an oasis, the trees. You hated the civilization part of the scorch. It isn't even a civilization. Not one person there could be described as civil.

So you'd kept to yourself. Until suddenly a group of girls came running out of the city. You had followed their progress from your spot on one of the cliffs. A few hours later a group of boys came running.

You could recognize them all by now. The dark haired boy, the Asian boy, the boy with blonde hair, the girl with long blonde hair and the one with long black hair, the tall one with light brown hair, the stout one with curly brown hair, a girl with hair as short as a boy, countless others, and an older man who you could only guess was their leader. Even though you had no idea what they were doing running through the wastelands known as the scorch.

The two groups were separated by meer hours of each other but they never connected. You found yourself trailing the boy group. They had less people than the girls. Except on close inspection you realized that there was one girl traveling with them. She was smart. She was the one leading them. She was the one who divided the food and water and woke everyone up in the morning. It made sense.

You always hid behind the giant sand dunes even though you had no idea why. These were obviously new cranks so they still had their insanity intact. Wouldn't it be nice to talk to some rational human beings instead of spending your days muttering to yourself and slowly going crazy?

A voice broke through your thoughts;

"We have no idea where we're shucking going or what'll be buggin' waiting for us when we get there. How do we know we can trust you two? What if you're leading us to a nice pack of your crank buddies who are just dying to eat us?" A voice hissed and your heart jumped.

You were hiding behind a sand dune but you usually made sure they were a good football field away from you. They had gotten so close they were practically ten feet away.

"Listen buddy, Newt was it? Yeah well Jorge and I are the ones who should be doubting you if anything. You told us where you're going so we're taking you there. If nothing is there, we don't have enough supplies to survive the walk back. All our trust is on you." A female voice shot back. You had to use your hand to stifle a laugh.

Your heard the chuckle of an older man and then you waited until the voices faded in the distance.

You peeked your head up to see they were starting to disappear in the haze so you started to run.

You had never felt this way about anything. Of course your insanity soaked brain caused you to always be on an adrenaline type feeling that either made you want to laugh or kill someone, but this was just blatant curiousity. You had never felt curious about anything. You tried to stay away from all new things. But something drew you.

---

It was on the fourth night and you were wide awake that you watched the girl group sneak up on the boys. They carried all types of weapons. Spears, knives, guns, a machete even. It took seconds for the girls to have surrounded them all and have them with their hands in the air. You snuck closer.
