Chapter One
Angelia's POV
"Get out of the way."
A jock pushes me, ignoring the books falling out of my arms. I sigh and blindly try finding my glasses, everyone walking around the small teen on the floor. I finally feel my glasses on the cold floor and finally pull them on.
I gather my books and get up, taking a deep breath. I am on my merry way, when someone pushes me yet again, this time so I fall onto my back.
The breath is knocked out of me and the guy laughs as I feel tears pinch my eyes. I sniff and get up, looking at the smirk on his face as I speed past him.
I I begin my trek to the choir room and on the way there, I am called freak, peasant, bitch, and nerd.
It hurt.
I walk into the room and see Yoandri and his girlfriend, Lillian, talking to each other. Yoandri notices my stare and I blush, looking away. Everybody knew who he was, and how much of a charmer he was. But he wouldn't go for my type anyway.
I sigh, make my way to my seat all the way in the back, and take out Ender's Game. I push my long, dark brown curly hair back and see there was about fifteen minutes before class started.
I put my headphones on, and Wild Things by Alessia Cara comes on. I smile and sing to myself quietly. The music varies and soon enough I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li is on and I'm bobbing my head to the groovy beat.
In midst of my rocking out and reading, I feel someone staring and I look up just to see Yoandri looking at me with a small smile on his face.
I freeze and quickly burrow myself deeper into my book, but suddenly my book is pulled out of my hands and before I can start protesting, someone rips off my glasses as well.
As I go to get up, I pull off my headphones, ready to beg for my glasses back. I hear deep laughs and my confidence weakens the slightest bit. "Just g-give them b-back," I mutter out quietly. The jock laughs in my face and says, "You mean these?" I hear a crunch under his foot and tears prick my eyes, not for the second time today.
"I said give them back," I croak out. The jock laughs and pushes my back to the escalating seats. "Aw, you scared?" I glare at him and he pushes me, my body tumbling backwards.
I arch my back in the pain that radiates throughout my body and feel dizzy. I touch my head and through the blur of my sight, I manage to see a tint of red and I start to cry at the pounding in my head.
"Aw, is she crying?"
Their laughs echo in my ears and a soft, honey like voice comes to defense."Just give them back." The voice gives me chills, but I ignore them and focus on getting up from the floor.
Their laughs diminish and the jock responds, "Yoandri, chill. She's a dork." I wipe at my eyes, and soon someone puts my apparently unbroken glasses back on.
The person picks me up and pulls me close to them. A hand is laid on my cheek and big brown eyes peer into mine, with worry. "Are you okay?"
Yoandri looks down at me with concern and I shake my head and look down, blushing fiercely. "I'm bleeding a bit. I'll be fine though, thank you."
Yoandri smiles and nudges my chin, "You're welcome, Angelia." I look up at him shocked that he knows my name and he only laughs.
I let out a small smile and sit back down, collecting my things to get to the nurses office.
Lillian softly glares at me and at the intensity of it, I look away. Yoandri goes back to his seat just as I get up and rhe teacher, Ms. Sawyer, comes in and smiles at me. I smile back and put my head back down, embarrassed at my white teeth, and deep dimples.
