Chapter Eight

Yoandri's POV

"There's something up with you," she whispers. I laugh and hold her hand with mine. She slurps on her milkshake and looks at me from bottom to top.

"I'm being serious."

"I'm good. I'm cool."

"I'll find out what it is."

I raise an eyebrow and nod, "Oh really?" She laughs and her eyes glimmer, "Hell yeah."

I finish my drink and soon we are on our way to the movies. "So my resources say that they still have The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 out." I sigh and look down at her adorably hopeful face.

"Fine."

"You cried like a baby."

I sniff and Angelia laughs at me. I frown and throw a popcorn kernel at her, making her laugh harder. She leans up and gives me a kiss on the cheek just as the girl from the cash register, Patricia, watches.

I smile at her tentatively, and her bottom lip quivers. Angelia gasps and whispers, "I'll be in the bathroom. You talk it out. Tell her it was nothing. Don't sacrifice a real relationship for what we have."

I glance at her and shake my head, "You can't tell me to do that." Angelia looks right at me, exhales, and mumbles, "Well it's what I'm doing."

Angelia leaves and I take deep breaths as the girl approaches.

"Yoandri you said you wanted to get to know me!"

"She's just a friend. My best friend to be exact."

Patricia scoffs, "If you didn't want to hang out you could've just said so."

I rub my face and reach out to her, hoping she'll understand that I didn't mean harm.

"Hey, don't be like that," I mumble. Patricia glares at me and I shiver as a cold brown liquid falls all over my body.

Coca-Cola spills everywhere.

"Don't be a jerk next time."

I shake out my hair and Angelia rushes to my side when she assesses the situation.

She sees my blushing cheeks, the embarrassment spreading, the laughs and stares. I feel tears prick my eyes and she hugs me tightly. I let out a choked sob, people stopping to stare and laugh.

Angelia flips them off and strokes my hair, not caring about the soda spilling onto her clothes. "Let's go." I nod and wipe my red face, intertwining her fingers with mine.

"Okay."

***

"You got a new t-shirt?"

I smile weakly and shake my head, "No. That's not what changed about me." She huffs and cruises up to my house, ready to help me with my dilemma.

"Let's get you out of those clothes."

We walk up the stairs after entering through the door and I go to the bathroom, immediately stripping out of my clothes, hopping into the shower.

Angelia lays down on the bed and huffs.

Softly her voice comes out but I hear it anyway. "I've been ignoring this big lump in my throat," she sings. I feel goosebumps arise on my skin and peek my head out of the shower. I harmonize with her, "What now? I guess I'll just wait it out, wait it out."

Angelia stays quiet and I get out of the shower, changing into sweatpants and a long sleeve. I sigh as I towel dry my hair and walk out of the bathroom after putting on deodorant and that kind of stuff.

Angelia lays on the bed knocked out and I smile softly.

"Angelia?"

I shake her gently and she groans. I exhale and get an extra pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt.

I close my eyes and do my best to change her blindly. She flops down the bed afterwards and I open my eyes. I somehow managed to put on the sweatpants and t-shirt perfectly. I roll up the pant legs of the sweatpants, and position her comfortably.

She sighs in content when I take the hair elastic from her hand and put her hair up in a messy bun. She never really stayed over for the whole night, but in her condition this might be the first time she sleeps whole-heartedly.

Softly she whispers, "It was your hair. You got a haircut." I laugh a little and wrap my arms around her, her head laying against my torso. "No, baby."

She huffs and her breathing slows once again. I smile and whisper, "It wasn't any of those things." Angelia snuggles deeper into me and her curls tickle my face.

"My feelings for you changed," I stop and look at her resting face. "That's all."
