Chapter Eleven
Angelia's POV
"Angelia, get up."
I groan as my mother opens the window shades, sunlight pouring through the glass. "Mother leave me alone I'm depressed." Mom snorts and says, "No you're not."
I sigh and the front door opens downstairs. "Hello?" I look at my mom with wide eyes and a big smile spreads across my face. "DAD!" I rush down the stairs and when I reach the bottom I hop into his already open arms.
My dad, Dean, holds me tightly and I press my head against his chest. My dad was a business guy that worked internationally, and could only visit his family when he was free.
I didn't tell Yoandri about him before but if we were on talking terms, I would tell him all about Dad.
I smile as my mother comes down the stairs, "Hey, sweetie." He gives her a gentle kiss on the forehead and they smile lovingly at each other.
I leave them to talk for a bit and waddle up to my room that now had a made bed and clean floor. I plop down onto my bed and zip and unzip and zip my onesie.
I glance at my phone just as it lights up. I sigh and look away; it still hurt.
"Look at yourself already."
I look at my stomach and whisper, "There's nothing to fucking look at. What an asshole." My Dad knocks on my door and I watch as he enters the room, sitting on my bean bag chair. "So who's Yoandri?"
I blush terribly and mumble, "Yoandri is this guy that I'm dating. Don't tell mom but we aren't really dating I'm just helping him get back up on his feet." Dad looks at me confused and I clarify, "He had a rough break up." He nods and huffs, "Well. I wasn't expecting that."
I laugh and he chuckles. Dad gets up and walks towards me, "Honey, do whatever you think feels right. You're smart enough to do that." I nod and he ruffles my hair on the way out.
I sigh and fiddle my thumbs, "Do whatever feels right huh?" I snort and lay down on my bed, "What feels right is going on a trip to the grocery store."
I sit up, look at myself in the mirror, and squish my cheeks, "Yeah let's do that." I nod, "To get more ice cream."
***
"There's ice cream pie?" I press my face up against the glass and smirk at it. "You're coming home with me tonight." It's pure silence and I look to my right.
A lady looks at me incredulously and I frown, "I have got my heart broken and I'm allowing myself one more day of self pity before I pull myself together."
The lady tears her gaze away and says, "Well alrighty then." I smile and a guys voice catches me by surprise, "Angelia?" I look to my left and sigh, "Why hello there." He smiles and stands next to me, "What a fine specimen of pie." I scoot to the right a little and he follows me. I sigh and face him, "I'm tryna get the pie. Excuse me."
He smirks and moves so I can get the pie, "Looks good." I huff, "I know." I throw the dessert in the cart and move on to another aisle.
"Joel what are you doing here?" Joel smiles at me and says, "I just came to get some supplies. For example can I get your number?"
I look at him and snort, "Nope." I grab the item I'm looking for and move onto the check out register. Joel follows me with a frown on his face, "Why not? I mean Yoandri won't know-" I place a palm on his face and glare at him, "Shut up. You're aggravating me."
He stays quiet for a few more minutes until he speaks up again, "I didn't hear a reason." I place a hand on my face and look at him, "Joel?" He perks up a bit and responds, "Yes?"
I grab my bags after self checking out and say, "Shut the fuck up. I'm not giving you my number. I'm not gonna go behind Yoandri's back like that."
Joel sighs and smiles at me, "I'm happy you're with him. All the other girls would have fallen for my charm. Yoandri and I talked it out and I apologized."
I put my bags in the cart and ask, "What did you apologize for?"
Joel's face twists in guilt and he mumbles, "I stole his girlfriend." I stop what I'm doing and look at him carefully, "He's scared I'll go for you?" Joel nods and says, "But I'm not going to get you am I?"
I smile softly and shake my head, "Nah. Sorry." Joel laughs quietly and says, "Are you sure I can't get your number? So I can talk to you about Yoandri only?"
I hesitate but shake my head, "Nope. If you want it so bad ask Yoyo." Joel frowns and says, "You're no fun." I laugh and grab a last minute pack of gum, "Dude be real. Life isn't fun in general."
I pass him a piece and he pops it into his mouth, "Was that piece of gum a peace offering?" I shrug, "If you wanna call it that."
Joel walks with me to my car and says, "Goodbye for now, Angelia." I laugh and say, "Bye." He walks away and when I get into the car I look at my phone.
Two new messages.
I sigh and one of them says, "Call me. I just want to hear your voice." Tears prick my eyes and I take a deep breath, wiping my eyes.
I drive home after pulling over once to cry hysterically and wipe my eyes as I get out of the car. I check the time and look up at the sky, the lights already being visible.
I trudge up to my house and greet my parents, my mother and I unpacking the groceries. "Mother I'm going to go outside." She nods and Dad warns me to put on my coat. I begrudgingly obey his orders and soon I'm outside laying down on the snow.
But something was missing and it wasn't until I looked to my left that I realized what it was.
He wasn't next to me to share the feeling.
What feeling you ask?
The feeling of exhilaration, warmth, and something else I can't quite put my finger on.
All I know this that that feeling I can't identify...
I feel it every time we are together.
