Raquelle sat back on her couch with Monse and Brooklyn. The boys had finally finished putting all the furniture together and mounting the TVs.
"So, how does it feel to finally have your own place?" Monse asked.
"I don't know, I almost feel too grown. It's weird." She said as she turned off her phone and put it down on the coffee table. "How are you though?"
"Not good, dad can't afford to send me back to mayfield." Monse sighed.
"You can't get a scholarship or something?" Brooklyn asked, not intrigued by the conversation.
"I could've if he wouldn't have waited until the semester was over to tell me. Guys he's know about this for months and didn't speak up."
"Odd. What did he think was gonna happen?" Monse scrunched up her face a little. "Have you talked to Cesar since that night?"
Monse shook her head. "I don't wanna involve myself with him again."
"That's real." Brooklyn nodded.
"Mommy!" Saint yelled as he ran out of the master bedroom and up to her.
"Yes, baby?" She asked while rubbing her fingers through his hair.
"Tío say I fat." He whined.
"Stop pouting. Go back in there and say 'ya mama' okay?" She instructed. He nodded with a smile before running off. Soon after she heard Carlos bust out laughing.
"Ya mama!" He cackled. "Tell em his head long and his neck fat."
The girls started laughing at this. "See, he go too far." Brooklyn said.
"No forreal, like that was not needed." Raquelle agreed, still laughing. They quieted down hearing Monse's phone ring.
"LAPD." She mumbled in confusion before answering the phone. Raquelle and Brooklyn glanced over at her.
"Hello?" She spoked hesitantly. "Yes, this is Monse... what?" She stood up and walked outside leaving the other two girls confused.
"Weird." Raquelle mumbled. She froze when her phone started ringing in her lap. She turned it over.
Maybe: LAPD
"Aw hell nah." She silenced her phone and tossed it away. It started ringing again.
