racism

racism.

while, alhamdulilah, racism has been decreasing recently it still exists.
racism exists even now, more in some people than others, despite everyone knowing how wrong it is.

today i wanted to give the islamic point of view of it to hopefully make you think a little deeper about the issue.

racism is a trait of iblis, the devil, and being racist relates you to him.
as we know, when allah swt commanded all the angels to prostrate before adam they all did except iblis, and what was his excuse? that he was better than adam because he was made from fire while adam is made from clay.

"قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلَّا تَسْجُدَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ ۖ قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍۢ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍۢ"

"Allah asked, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" He replied, "I am better than he is: You created me from fire and him from clay." "
7:12

this is the same thing as people today saying they're better because of their skin color or ethnicity.
wether you're black, white, arab, non arab, etc. we are all equal, the only difference is in taqwa (piety) (righteousness).

وقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا فضل لعربي على أعجمي، ولا لأبيض على أسود، ولا لأسود على أبيض إلا بالتقوى "

The messenger of Allah, Muhammad (pbuh) said: "Verily there is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, or of a red man over a black man, or of a black man over a red man, except in terms of taqwa (piety)."

"إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتْقَىٰكُمْ ۚ"

"Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you."
49:13

racism is a deep-rooted issue that has been passed down from generation to generation and it's time we stop this mutation. if you find yourself subconsciously being racist because that's what you're used to correct yourself and do istighfar for thinking you're better than someone else. we need to work on our mindset so that future generations will have a better mindset.
