Nightcrawler

Denial Pt.3

"Uh, where'd the door go?" Superboy asks as everyone turns to see the door that they once came throw was now gone. A bright golden light appears showing a projection of Kent Nelson the man they were here for.

"Greetings." The magical projection says. "You have entered with a key, but the tower dose not recognize you. State your purpose and intent." Nelson's projection demands. Before Aqualad could say anything Kid Flash steps forward. 

"We are true believers here to find Doctor Fate." Kid Flash dramatically announces causing Artemis, Aqualad and Nightcrawler to look at him skeptically. Kent Nelson looks at him sadly before disappearing. A feeling of dread overcomes Nightcrawler as a creaking sound echo's throw the room. 

Before anything else could happen the floor beneath the team gives out dropping all of them towards the lava bellow. 

Nightcrawler quickly grabs Superboy with his tail and Aqualad with his left arm before teleporting to the wall  planting his feet to keep them up while Miss Martian grabs Kid Flash and Artemis uses her small crossbow to shoot an arrow to hold her. 

"This Kent Better be worth it." Superboy says as he looks down towards the lava below. 

Nightcrawler slowly notices that Miss Martian and Kid Flash is slowly falling. "Having trouble maintaining altitude... Ugh, I'm so hot." She says as she wipes sweat away from her brow. 

"Yeah you are." Kid Flash flirts causing Artemis to snap at him. Nightcrawler notice Aqualad is also having problems with the heat. " Are you alright?" Nightcrawler asks. 

"My physiology and M'gann's are susceptible to heat we must climb out quickly.

"Can't Kai teleport us all out?" Kid flash asks looking towards Nightcrawler as he lifts his tail allowing Superboy to be closer towards Miss Martian and Kid Flash to catch them incase she falls. 

"I can't hold all of you at the same time but if necessary I'm sure we can find away." Nightcrawler says as he grips the wall tighter. 

"Hello Megan!." Miss Martian exclaims. "We never... truly answered the question." She informs them. "Red Tornado....sent us... to see if... Mr. Nelson and the Helmet... were safe." As soon as she finishes her answer a panel slides over the lava allowing them to fall onto it. 

"This platform.... It should be red hot, but it is cool to the touch." Aqualad realizes. 

"Don't worry Megalicious, I gotcha." Kid Flash says as he helps Miss Martian up. 

"Enough!" Artemis yells as she shoves Kid Flash into the nearby wall. "Your impress M'gann at all cost game nearly got us all barbecued." She yells. 

"When did this become my fault?" Kid Flash asks as he glares at Artemis. 

"When you lied to that whatever it was And called yourself a true believer." Everyone turned to look at Kid Flash as soon as Artemis finished yelling at him. 

"Wally?" Miss Martian asks as she walks closer to him. "You don't believe?" Kid Flash glares at Artemis. 

"Fine! Fine! I lied about believing in Magic! But Magic's the real lie, it's all a major load!" He snaps. 

Wally, I studied for a year at the conservatory of Sorcery in Atlantis." Aqualad begins. "The Mystic Mages created the skin icons that power my WaterBearers." He continues now standing by Kid Flash. 

"Dude ever heard of Bioelectricity?" Kid Flash asks annoyed. "Hey, in primitive cultures, fire was once considered Magic too. Today, it's all a bunch of tricks. "

"You pretty closed minded for some who can break the sound barrier in his sneakers." Artemis spoke.

"That's science. I recreated the Flash's experiment, and here I am." Kid Flash says sarcastically. 

"And Kai?" Nightcrawler's head snaped towards Artemis as she spoke his name. He was contempt with staying out of this discussion but no Artemis had to drag him in. 

"Please he was born with the Meta-Gene, which is all that's needed to explain his abilities and his, uh blueness. Not some dumb religious thing he believes." Kid Flash says with a confident smile. "Everything can be explained by science."

Before Nightcrawler could charge at Kid Flash Aqualad stopped him. "Let's test that theory." He says before pulling on a unseen latch.  

'Wait, the backdraft from the lava will roast us alive!" Kid Flash yells, but Aqualad already pulled it open. 

When the door opens instead of boiling hot lava, snow and wind come out. "It's snow!" Miss Martian cried out cheerfully. 

"Do you ever get tired of being wrong?" Artemis says smirking at Kid Flashes angry face. Nightcrawler just continues to glare at the Red-Head as snow blows out from the door. 

The team jumps through the door, the gateway spun so it was now floating midair before disappearing. 

"Well?" Artemis asks as she smirks at Kid Flash. 

"Ever heard of String Theory? We're in a pocket dimension." 

"Ugh!" Artemis  growls in frustration. 

"What's that?" Miss Martian asks as Kent Nelson's cane is floating above the snow. 

"Ooo, maybe it's Kent's magic wand." Kid Flash says sarcastically as he runs to grab it. Artemis also going to grab it. "Uh, I wouldn't touch-" Nightcrawler begins. 

"I got it." They both says as the cane begins to glow. "I can't let go!" They both yell as the cane pulls them upwards before disappearing in a flash of gold. 

"-it." Nightcrawler finishes as the other share a look. 

Nightcrawler, Aqualad, Miss Martian, and Superboy walk through the snow in silence till Miss Martian begins to speak.

"I don't understand Wally. It's almost like he needs to believe the impossible can't happen." Aqualad walks over towards her placing a hand on her shoulder. "Wally uses his understanding of science to control what he cannot comprehend. Acknowledging Magic would relinquish the last vestige of that control." He explains. Nightcrawler scoffs causing Aqualad to turn towards him.

"Doesn't mean he has to be rude about it and insult us." Nightcrawler says. "I'm sorry he offended you. I'm sure once all this is over he will apologize and if not I will personally make him." Aqualad says placing a hand on Nightcrawlers shoulder as well before they continue through the snow. 

A creaking sound followed by a thud was heard from the distance. Turning towards the sound the four find a doorway sitting on a nearby ridge. They all exchange a look as they head towards the door.

I'm going to be honest I had to stop writing this to take my
ADHD Med because I could not focus.
