"Chukahae uri Chan Youngie!" everyone exclaimed.
I opened my eyes to the sound of them cheering and clapping as confetti was being thrown in the air.
I was confused, aren't I getting fired?
"Chukahae! Aigoo, uri maknae..." my boss congratulated me as he brought his hand down and patted my left shoulder.
I gave my boss a puzzled looking expression on my face with my right brow raised since I can't raise my left brow.
"Wae, you thought you were gonna be fired? Pabo-ya, have you forgotten that we have a spare key to the café?" he chuckled then laughed(yeah, my boss's a he), and so did everyone.
"Then what were the 34 messages from you for? And why is everyone out here? Why aren't there customers?" I queried.
"Ok ok... First, those 34 messages was telling you to take a break today, you don't have to come work and also tells you to come to here at 5:30pm later in the evening. Second, everyone's out here to finish planning and setting up your surprise congratulatory party and lastly, there aren't any customers here today is because we closed the café specially for you, for your your party. Well now, I guess it's not so much of a surprise anymore, is it?" he explained.
Shocked, surprised, speechless, thankful, touching. I don't really know what to say.
"Wait hang on, why am I being congratulated?" I finally asked.
"You didn't read your text messages at all did you...?" he snickered.
"Oh Chan Young-ah..." he added sniggeringly.
"Hahaha well, we'll tell you later then. Anyways, aren't you supposed to be at school by now?" he reminded.
"Oh right! Well then I'll see you guys later! Oh wait... Boss-nim, could I have $4?"
---------------------------------------------
It's almost the end of the 2nd period(the 1st and 2nd period for today are both maths by the way). I knocked the door to my class nervously.
I slid pass through the door after sliding it open.
"Jwesonghaeyo songsaenim!" I apologised, bowing a 90 degrees bow.
"Ne, Sang Kyung told me you'll be late today. Have a seat first but later, follow me to the office." Mrs.Kim, our maths teacher remarked.
"Ye!" I asnwered, sliding the door back shut and went to my seat.
I took my books out and while I was taking them out, faces from every direction stared and looked at me. Like it wasn't embarrassing enough having to come late today, they didn't have to worsen the situation for me.
After about like 10 minutes after i came, the school bell rang and it's now our short break.
"Chan Young, tarawa." Mrs.Kim asserted.
"Ye..." I uttered.
And so I stood up ignoring everyone that was looking at me and followed her to the teachers' office as she brought me to her desk.
"Ja! This was what you missed in class earlier. Finish and submit them to me by tomorrow ok? You think you could do that?" she kindly asked me, which was weird actually. Usually in class, she's pretty strict at times.
She handed me this booklet worth of two pages of paper, printed side by side and a separate piece of paper with only one printed side.
"Ne, kamsahamnida." I answered while taking the papers off of her hands. Oh boy, I'm in trouble now. I'm not that fluent with Maths and it's not like Kyungie would help me with anything that's related to school anyway, except for boys though.
"Now, Mrs.Song wants to see you." she added as she began to focus on her work.
"Mrs.Song, you wanted to see me?" I walked myself to Mrs.Song's desk.
"Oh, wasseo? Ne, Chan Young-ah, you need to give me a reason for why you're late today." Mrs.Song went straight to the point there, didn't even ask if I was fine.
"Oh, well you see..." I told Mrs.Song everything.
Luckily, Mrs.Song let me off the hook after listening to my story. I then went back to class and sat on my seat as I put the papers in my bag. No one was here in class, thank god!
I shut my eyes and placed my head on top of my table with my arms by my side and not on the table, facing to the right. I just wanted some time alone and think, just think.
Will I be able to finish doing the assignment Mrs.Kim gave me by tonight? Who's going to help me? Why was I being congratulated earlier? These thoughts kept on replaying.
"Mwohae?" a voice spoke.
I opened my eyes to see The8's face next to mine. He was bending down with his hands held together behind his back. His face was really close to mine seriously, like only a finger width apart. I swear, my heart was beating pretty fast for a moment there. Well, not up to the point where my cheeks would blush. (And yes, I successfully memorized all their names thanks to Kyungie.)
I jumped in surprise, sending both The8 and I standing up straight on both our feet.
"Mian." he chuckled.
"Aniya, gwenchana." I said while sitting back down on my seat.
And The8 sitting on the chair in front of me with his body facing the opposite direction of the chair which led him facing me.
"So why were you late today?" he questioned.
"Umm... It's a long story." I replied, rubbing my neck.
"Oh no worries, I've got time." he stated.
"RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!"
"Heh, but apparently the school doesn't." I giggled slightly as the school bell rang.
"Could you tell me later then?" he mentioned.
"I'll think about it. Now go to your seat." I let out another giggle.
"Huh... Arasso." he pouted with a sigh as he went to sit on his designated seat.
It was cute really, watching and talking to him. I liked it, it was comforting. No wonder he's the 'cool cutie' of the group.
---------------------------------------------
The school bell rang yet once again, which meant exactly one thing. It's now lunch time...
