In order to protect what shall not be stolen again

I crashed open the door to the pub revealing the guys getting prepared. The bags were at the side. Anna was sitting at a booth wearing a red tank-top and red denim shorts. So that’s what she looks like when she’s wearing something else. Her hair was down with a hairband holding it back. I took off the rubber band from my wrist and approached her before tying her hair in a ponytail letting her bangs and the layers fall from her ponytail.

“Are you guys really gonna take that long to get ready?”

“Just a few more things and we’re done”

Mikoto looked at all of them and crashed on one of the booths. He was still wearing his usual clothes.

“Aren’t you coming with us?”

“I’m gonna change when we get there”

“You’re so lazy”

I took Anna’s things and put them in the van. I went inside with Anna beside me and tied my hair in a ponytail.

“Who’s driving?”

“Kusanagi”

“I ride shot gun then”

I went out the car and went into the passenger’s seat. I plugged in my earphones and put ‘Karma’ on. Anna just looked at me before I could hand her one earphone and play ‘Bouken Suisei’. Both of those were Tales of the Abyss’s soundtrack. One was the opening, the other was the closing.

“What’s this song?”

“Bouken Suisei by Kurumi Enomoto”

Totsuka went inside and put the cooler at the back. Everybody then went in and closed the door after Kusanagi went in the driver’s seat.

“Nobody forgot anything”

“Nope”

“Then let’s go”

He started the van and turned on the radio. I just plugged in my earphones again and closed my eyes.

Kusanagi’s POV

I could hear somebody smacking their head on the window. I looked at the back and saw everybody on their phones. I looked beside me and saw Hana’s head being hit on the window over and over again. I pulled her head softly and let it rest on my shoulder.

“Kusanagi, you’re so mean”

I turned around and saw Totsuka looking at me madly.

“What you want her to have a broken skull when we get there?”

“I didn’t say anything”

She suddenly let go of the player on her hand making it unplug from her ears. I was gonna have to pick it up when we get there, I’m driving right now, so it’s dangerous for me to look away when driving.

(Fifteen minutes later)

The car was in full silence. Totsuka was the only person that was awake. Mikoto had his face covered with his jacket while Anna’s head was resting on his lap. I looked towards Hana; her head was also resting on my lap. I brushed her hair softly before I could hear Totsuka clear his throat.

“Do you really have feelings for Hana?”

My eyes widen when I heard him say that. How did he know about that? Mikoto was the only person that knew about this. He swore that he will never tell anybody.

“How’d you know about that?”

He pointed towards Mikoto. So, this guy really did tell him my meanest secret. He could tell him anything.
