Aarav's POV
A lot of stuff happens these days. After our dinner together, we hardly had any time to talk and even if I wanted to talk to her. Diya was always pre-occupied with her stuff. She was worried, tensed but she was not sharing anything with me. I didn't ask her thinking maybe she needs time.
Yesterday, she finally opened up to me. She told me everything-everything she had been carrying alone for so long.
As I listened, my heart ached for her. The pain, the struggles, and the battles she fought were more than anyone should ever have to endure.
At first, I was overwhelmed with worry, knowing how much the past had scarred her. But as she continued, something shifted in me.
I saw strength in her, a kind of resilience that only comes from enduring storms and still standing tall. She wasn't just surviving-she was fighting, rebuilding herself from the ashes of her pain. It made me realize just how incredible she truly was. I couldn't hold back anymore.
In the heat of the moment, I confessed everything I'd been hiding for so long. I told her how much I admired her, how proud I was of her, and... how I felt about her.
But then, silence. She didn't say a word. Her quietness pierced through me more than any words ever could. I tried to tell myself that maybe she just needed time to process, to heal, to understand what I meant. And so, I let it go, for now. She's been through so much already, and the last thing I want is to add to her burdens.
Even though her silence stung, I couldn't help but feel hopeful. Maybe one day, when her heart is ready, she'll see me for who I truly am-not just someone who cares about her, but someone who wants to stand by her, no matter what. Until then, I'll wait.
Next day
Nobody's pov
Diya woke up late the next morning, feeling groggy as the sunlight streamed through the curtains. Blinking away the sleep, she turned to the side, only to find Aarav’s side of the bed empty. The sheets were slightly rumpled, but there was no sign of him.
Her heart sank slightly. Did he leave without saying anything?
Pushing aside the thought, she got out of bed and freshened up quickly. After tying her hair into a loose bun, she made her way downstairs.
As she entered the kitchen, the faint aroma of tea and cardamom filled the air. Her mother-in-law stood near the stove, pouring steaming tea into a cup. The older woman glanced at Diya and gave her a small nod before sliding a cup toward her.
“You’re up late today,” her mother-in-law remarked casually, stirring her own tea.
Diya took the cup with a grateful smile. “I didn’t realize it was this late.”
Her mother-in-law took a slow sip before speaking again. “Aarav left early for the office. He said he was getting late and didn’t even have breakfast.”
Diya’s fingers tightened around the warm cup. He left without waking me up? Without even having breakfast? A strange feeling settled in her chest—one she couldn’t quite place.
