NO!" you yell.
Fury is already dead, Natasha can't die too....
The Winter Soldier's head whips around to where your Kia is. He prowls towards it, but he barely makes it five steps when something launches above your heads. You see flashes of red, and almost cry with happiness. Natasha has landed on the Winter Soldier's shoulders and is attempting to knock him unconscious. She must have just had something playing a recording hidden behind the car to trick the Winter Soldier.
"Get out of here!" she orders, pulling a black cord from her pocket and looping it around the Winter Soldier's neck.
You would much rather help Natasha, but Peter is already pulling you away, towards a nearby street still full of people. The two of you help them get to safety. You will yourself not to look at the violent fight you know must be happening, but that's tested when you hear Steve screaming. You freeze, looking in the direction the sound was coming from, then glance back at Peter, who's watching you.
"I'll take care of this," he assures you. "Go help Mr. Rogers."
"Thank you."
You tear off in the opposite direction. Natasha and Sam are nowhere to be seen, but Steve and the Winter Soldier are locked in combat, with Steve using his shield to try and pry the Winter Soldier's metal arm off. The Winter Soldier throws him backward, and his shield falls out of his grip as he hits the ground. The Winter Soldier takes aim with his blade again, but before he can attack, you've run forward and used a bright blue sports car to launch yourself onto his shoulders, the way Natasha has taught you. You begin to punch every inch of him not covered by armor. He tries to stab you with the blade, but you let every swish of the blade pass through you.
Your hands connect with the hard metal-woven fibers of his mask. Struck with a sudden idea, you quickly twist yourself around so you're sitting on his shoulders in a sort of piggy-back instead of facing him. Then you try to tug the mask off, leaning backwards as much as you can without falling off. The imbalance of weight causes the Winter Soldier to stumble back, though he tries to correct this by discarding the knife and seizing you around the throat, easily lifting you up off his shoulders. You keep one hand firmly on the mask, so when he eventually succeeds in tossing you to the side, it comes with you. You let go of it before dropping into your new superhero stance. The mask clatters to the ground in front of you.
You look up. The Winter Soldier glares contemptuously at you. He looks vaguely familiar, but you can't think of why. He turns around to face Steve, who is now back on his feet and has his shield back. But when he sees the Winter Soldier's full face, he freezes, his shield hanging limply at his side.
"Bucky?" he asks, so many emotions in his voice you can't separate them.
"Who the hell is Bucky?" In contrast, there is no emotion in the Winter Soldier's voice.
He begins to walk towards Steve, but he's thrown aside by Sam, who has just flown over to you. Sam lands on the ground, falcon wings folding into the pack. The Winter Soldier stands up, staring at Steve with wide eyes. After a moment, he grabs a gun and tries to shoot Steve, but a much larger explosion throws him backward into the black car behind him. You turn to see Natasha, leaning against a car and holding the large gun the Winter Soldier had earlier.
Sirens fill the air, and you're suddenly surrounded by a handful of black military-grade trucks, each carrying at least a dozen soldiers.
"Drop the shield, Captain! Everyone, get on your knees!"
You turn to see Rumlow. He walks over to Steve, who drops his shield. Rumlow kicks the back of Steve's knees, but there's no need, as he was already sinking towards the ground. Cool metal touches your scalp as someone presses a gun to the back of your head.
